Well yeah, because you have an extreme bias against him, so you will hate anything he says, even if it is rational and makes sense. Ahhhh how wonderful two party systems are.

Well, first he said that he disagrees with what the majority of what Americans want. You can respect him for saying that, but it kinda goes against idea that the president represents his people.

Also, he admitted to only meeting Palin a "couple" of times before choosing her as his running mate.

He has said a number of things during the interview that does not sit very well with me.

I do not think that you should choose your buddies as running mates, but his running mate could potentially be the next president of the US and that choice should be made deliberately and with care. I do not believe that it is a choice that can be made by meeting a person twice.

Yes, but ignoring the opinions of the people goes against the ideals that our nation was founded on.

exactly, it hinges on the common man have enough sense to tell what is best for the U.S.

If he is going to made decisions that are completely against what the American people want, then why event vote? Honestly, if the person that REPRESENTS the people is not going to represent the people and make his decisions willy nilly, then why even have elected positions.

^^too bad nearly every elected official does what they think is best, and not what "the country wants"

do you think obama is any different? sure, he'll say that he cares, and will even vow to do what the people want, but just like any other elected official (including mccain), he will do what he wants

I hate Democrats and their bleeding heart liberal bullshit. I say that we should let people fall on their faces instead of hand out all kinds of shit. I believe in small government that should stop policing the nation and the rest of the world. Gah. . .I am disgusted with BOTH parties.

[Edited on September 21, 2008 at 8:02 PM. Reason : ^yes. but i don't believe that elected officials should go against the people.]

but at the same time you want the president to do whats best for the country. thats why he is running it and not "the people" of the country

besides, if you really want to get to "what our country was founded on," then let's get rid of income taxes, the Dept of Education, Dept of Energy, Homeland Fucking Security, Dept of Transportation, ...

well we kinda need a few of those. but if you want to get to what we were founded on we need to get rid of all the luxurys we have. we have these "groups" for a good reason.

which ones do we need? How many people are educated by the Dept. Of Ed? How much energy does the Dept Of Energy produce? How many buses does the Dept of Trans run?

I don't believe that we need all of the encumbrances that we currently have because our government is so large. Don't even get me started on what I think of Homeland Security, Welfare, Food Stamps, Social Security...

And people were probably better educated before we had the Department of Education.

ok, then. you should understand, then, that all of that shit was started because the people wanted it. And they got a president that thought so, too. So, now you should see why a president should do what is right, not just what people "want."

I thought he gave the perfect answer to that.

He basically said that even though it may not show we are in a true recession on the graphs, it feels like a recession to millions of Americans.
