Someone please explain to me how someone who owns 7 houses, and 13 vehicles can possibly know anything about the struggles of people living in the middle class here in America??
Even my friends who have parents with $$, may have atleast one house and maybe a beach or mountain cottage....but 7...SEVEN....who the hell NEEDS 7 houses and 13 vehicles???
And McCain has the nerve to call Obama elitist...seriously...SERIOUSLY?? Someone explain to me what McCain has in touch with the Middle Class folks here in NC???
(side note, don't forget to register to vote for the Presidential race before or/by Oct. 10th, that's the deadline for NC residents!!) 9/22/2008 7:00:44 PM |

If I had the money I would have 7 houses and 13 vehicles too. Actually I would have hundreds of houses and would rent them out, then buy more with the rental income off the first batch, I would continue to leverage myself with more houses and then invest that money in more houses.
I would keep them all under 50% LTV and they would always make money.

OhBoyee, if your going to state the news atleast tell the whole story man. Michelle Obama said that she was proud of her country b/c it's the first time she's seen people be so engaged in politics, and the massive numbers in which people are registering to vote. She stated it again on the show the , "View" a few weeks ago.
But McCain's 13 vehicles...I just dont get. I have an Uncle who runs a corporation in TN, lives in a 7 bedroom house and has his own lake built named after him and he only has 3 cars...one for him/his wife and one for my cousin.....
but NO ONE here in the good ole USA can even begin to know what a typical middle class NC family goes through and own 7 homes and 13 vehicles!!
McCain may be able to spell Nascar and enjoy a BBQ sandwich from NC at a race, but what could he even discuss with one of the fans in teh stands at a NASCAR race?? There's nothing wrong with being wealthy...I applaud his wife's 'old money'....but dont you dare go out on public tv/radio/newspaper calling Obama an elitist when he probabaly has about 3-4 waiters in each of McCain's 7 homes! 9/22/2008 7:11:57 PM |

you don't have to get it. it has nothing to do with you.
and john mccain is not your fucking cousin. maybe john mccain doesn't have his own lake built for him and named after him, but prefers houses and cars.
Quote : | "but NO ONE here in the good ole USA can even begin to know what a typical middle class NC family goes through and own 7 homes and 13 vehicles!!

what the fuck ever...more like the other way around. the typical middle class family has no concept whatsoever of what john mccain has gone through (the 5 years in the hanoi hilton is just the best example).
that dude did 20+ years as a naval aviator. having been in a typical middle class family (both at the lower middle class and very upper middle class ends of the spectrum) and having been a naval aviator, i can tell you that John Doe has no room to say that McCain was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

again, there is no reason to hold McCain's wealth against him (and Obama is not exactly poor, although he has not yet accumulated the sort of wealth as more seasoned politicians).
furthermore, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about if you're trying to paint McCain as a redneck good ol' boy who chows down on BBQ and watches NASCAR.

yikes don't get your panties in a wad. people were saying he is admirable because he spends his hard earned money. he is successful because he has so much hard earned money.
but it isn't his. that is all i'm saying. which everyone knows (i think, or maybe not judging from the defensiveness). all iiiiii said was it isn't his money. and that money does not necessarily make one successful. he can still do what he wants with it GEEZ. but if you want to call him admirable or successful maybe focus on something that is actually his??? that is my only point.

I dont care that he's rich, I care that he trys to paint/portray himself as someone whose wealth does not give him benefits over the middle class American!
If one of Obama's houses is accidentally burned down while he's on vacation and the same thing happens to McCain...Obama is going to feel the pinch much quicker than Mccain B/C all McCain has to do is move into one of 6 other choices. How many North Carolinian folk could recover so quickly if the same happened to them?? They both could rebuild easily, but Obama would know the hardship put on random folks much better then someone who has so much excess! 9/22/2008 7:34:06 PM |

I'm sure McCain has accumulated at least as much wealth as Obama through his own labor...if nothing else, he does have several of his own books, at least a couple of which have sold a bunch of copies...
and though his wife is the one with the money, how do you think he ended up with a hot (for her age) zillionaire beer heiress? By being a successful, powerful man--which never would've happened without a lot of hard work on his part.
Quote : | "this thread was made purposely to point out hypocrisy, and the numerous times ive heard random folks talk of Obama being an elitist without knowing any facts.

the talk of Obama being elitist had nothing to do with money--it was a result of his statements like the one about "clinging to guns and religion".

i think, for me at least, it is more the very real possibility that EITHER candidate, if elected, could seriously seriously die in office. i mean that is true for every president but i think in this election we are faced with a greater possibility that whoever is elected could die in office. therefore we look to VPs. and i don't care about mccain. i used to like him until he started changing his mind on everything (environment, immigration) WHICH i seriously hope is to get the ultra conservative vote. because i think he is smart and yes, i liked him because he USED to be more moderate than some repubs. but i would never, under any circumstances want THAT woman as the president. i know she's good at reelin in the votes but fuck no i would not feel safe with her as the president.
not that it is really an issue for me because i don't vote republican anyway. i'm just saying, that is why i think his ticket is the "worst ever." mccain alone isn't the "worst ever." and hopefully, even if he does win, dems could have control of congress that AND even with mccain we still have a 10% chance for change. jk...but my point is, no one could be worse than bush.

Yes, I do have a point in making this post. One of the things Ive heard from republican/dem/independent friends of mine over since the '04 election is that what gets to them the most is that the Pres. they voted for in '04 is out of touch with the regular everyday American.
I dont expect the Pres. to fix every problem under the sun that comes our way nor do I expect the Pres. to have everyone in the US get together and sing 'Coom By-Yah' to fix our problems.
What I do expect from the next Commander in Chief is someone who can a) If my folks ever loose their job and dont have health care-can they get affordable health care, b) if I dont want to send my kids to a crappy public schools, will I have safeguards in place to give me options at good public charter schools, etc, and c) a President who is not so far from the every day American financially that he's never known what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck (b/c Ive had relatives who have had to do that, and these were extremely hard workers and most have two jobs),
and sorry McCain is so out of touch with the average NC family, it's not even funny! 9/22/2008 7:50:34 PM |

^^^^well conservatives would beg to differ on the Palin issue. The Rep side was getting pissed off at McCain for being too liberal so Palin was a very smart choice in that respect. I happen to know a conservative who actually is only now going to vote for McCain because of Palin and he is hoping beyond all hope that McCain dies and she takes over.
Personally I really believed we are fucked either way though more so with Obama and Biden. I mean yeah, 'change' but I don't want to spend the next 4 years trying to adjust to a more socialized everything considering how I believe things are already too socialized. There's a saying that goes something like 'the devil you know is better than the devil you don't'.
Further...I still am not sure why Palin is so detested aside from her views on abortion. I'm PRO-CHOICE always have been, always will be...but the things that would have to fall into place in order to make it illegal are so unlikely that anyone harping on it is someone who would never ever vote Republican no matter what, because it's so not remotely probable. 9/22/2008 7:55:31 PM |
