I've pretty much never cooked anything that didn't come with instructions. I worked in a grocery store for like forever and people would always give me recipes and shit in line but i could never remember them. So here goesOkay someone teach me how to marinate chicken breasts. Like BBQ or something else that when its done i can just throw that b on the grill and call it a day.Other people can request recipes or post their favs/specialties in here. This has been a walls1441 presentation.[Edited on September 22, 2008 at 7:30 PM. Reason : like seriously 80 people told me how to cook rhubarb. i just remember it needed sugar or something]

hey walls, they got some marinara sauce at the grocery store, defrost that shit, toss it in the fridge full of the sauces (whichever you prefer) for an hour, and cook that shit up.Best of luck!

just start mixing sauces or creating sauces and spices until you find something you like, that's what i do.for example I love sweet and spicey/azn floavors, so for pork chops i put chopped garlic, minced ginger, OJ, soy sauce, splash of olive oil, honey, sweet chille sauce, whatsthishere sauce, and a bit of some generic honey bbq sauce in a sauce pan and reduce it down to a glaze while i cook the chops.i mean if you want the most basic of marinades, just get a bottle of italian dressing pour it over some chicken breasts in a plastic ziplock bag, get as much air out as possible and put it in the fridge for a couple hours. I'm not a fan of italian dressing personally but alot of people seem to like it.[Edited on September 22, 2008 at 7:35 PM. Reason : sawce][Edited on September 22, 2008 at 7:36 PM. Reason : .]

Zesty Italian thats all you need.
9/22/2008 7:36:17 PM
i'm not a huge fan of italian. most of the sauces that i like for chicken tend to be more red or yellow, and less clear. I'll report back next time i go to the grocery store.I'm walls1441 and i approved this message.

Using commerical dressings as marinades
9/22/2008 7:43:11 PM
ginger dressing is really good as a marinade. only if you get the right kind though. it comes in the refrigerated section. i think it is the simply fresh version. that is a good chicken marinade.

Get some Open Pit BBQ sauce (not widely available in NC, but can be found), coat chicken breast with it, and throw chicken on the barbecue. Quick, easy, and BBQ flavor.

oh man, i have an AWESOME marinade that i LOVE. i've used it on chicken or beef, and it works great either way... but.. of course i left my notebook at home, dammit!it was a concoction ofsoy sauceolive oilbrown sugarvinegarfresh ground peppersaltminced garlic (not the powder, it's not the same)shit, i can't remember what else, i'll try to remember to get you the recipe after work.edit: i usually let mine marinate over night, it ensures the meat will be real tender. i love to cook beef in the crock pot, after cooking all day it just falls apart and it's delicious.[Edited on September 23, 2008 at 10:13 AM. an acid is a good way to break down the tough connective tissue in cheaper meatsgo get yourself some skirt steak and marinate it in lime juice with some tequila and salt... like you're making a margarita right?then cook it really quick in a very hot skillet (cast iron preferred) or slap it on the grillif it is a thin piece only a couple of minutes per sidebefore you start all of that though cut up some onions, tomatoes, cilantro, avocado, whateverslice up the beef when its done, stick it in a tortilla and you've got some good tacos/fajitas
9/23/2008 11:02:40 AM
^i'm definitely gonna have to try that, it sounds good!!!i found the recipe:1/4 c soy sauce1/4 c vinegar3 cloves garlic crushed (more or less depending on how you like it)1/2 tsp season salt3 Tbs brown sugar1/2 tsp pepper1 Tbs olive oil (or canola oil)i usually double it, but it's pretty tasty in my opinion

soy sauce + fresh garlic + sugar + tiny bit of pepper on any meatftw(5 soy sauce : 1 sugar)don't make it any more complicated than it needs to be.[Edited on October 9, 2008 at 2:10 PM. Reason : easy]

^brown sugabut seriously... use brown sugar, it's better imo
10/9/2008 2:11:12 PM
keeping brown sugar around sucks. it forms a brick and i just don't use it often enough to warrant buying it. plain sugar works just fine.
10/9/2008 2:13:09 PM

^^ if that happens, put the brown sugar in a ziploc bag with a slice of bread or a slice of apple. i promise you that'll put the moisture back in it.my mom had ~ 5 boxes of dried up brown sugar and it worked for all of them.
10/9/2008 2:15:15 PM
this thread is funny to me.^ You can also just put the brown sugar in the microwave for about a minute and it will un-brick. If it doesn't, then it's not really any good to use anymore.[Edited on October 9, 2008 at 2:17 PM. Reason : ...]
