Porsche is making the Panamera, and Aston the Rapide. Now it is Lambo's turn to make a sedan, or a "4-door coupe" as they call it (rakish profile, rear bucket seats). Needless to say, it will be front-engined.
Urus is a species of extinct cattle that was motherucking large and had its horns facing forward, rather than up. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurochs) (They should have gone with " Aurochs", sounds more aggressive)
To be revealed in about a week's time at the Paris Auto Show. Until then, Lambo has provided the following teaser images:
I think it will have the Gallardo's engine, tuned to abut 500 hp. However, if there isn't enough space for the engine at the front, they may introduce a new one, or borrow one from Audi!
Now all that's left is:
Ferrari sedan
and then
Lambo SUV Ferrari SUV Aston SUV
BTW, the Panamera will also be revealed at the Paris Auto Show, as well as the Aston Martin One-77, Aston's super supercar. 9/23/2008 8:18:00 PM |

The Urus is one of the rumors of what these pictures are showing. The other is that the pictures are showing a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 SV (with new body work to make it look more like the Reventón), which is just a lighter more powerful LP640.
Hopefully both will be true and Lamborghini will show all of the automakers how to make a super-sedan.
The LM002 also has the absolute worst gas mileage of any car at regular driving speeds. The Bugatti Veyron has the exact same mileage, 10mpg. If you adjust the old mileage standards to todays standards, the LM002 gets worse gas mileage.

I had never heard of the LM002 until just now so I googled it for more info which lead me to this story which is pretty awesome in a DOH! kind of way.
Quote : | "On July 18, 2004 at a USA military base near Baqubah, Iraq this LM002 was used to simulate (test) the effects of a V.B.IE.D. (Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device). The vehicle was stripped of it's front seats (which were subsequently transplanted into the COL's vehicle) and packed full of explosives. It was then parked next to a concrete barrier that was similar in construction to those that surrounded the base. The photos at left show the car before and after detonation. Unfortunately, the men involved in this little experiment were unaware of the rarity of this vehicle at the time and it was not until they arrived home in the USA that they were able to do more research on exactly what they had.
This car not longer exists!" |

^Your should rephrase that statement
10mpg is 10mpg. the results of one standard test method differing from that of another method is a completely different story. that is when 12mpg=/=10mpg, if you will 9/24/2008 8:31:42 AM |

450 hp is not bad even for 6,000 lbs. That ratio is not too far from today's large luxury sedans and super SUVs. It was capable of about 130 mph and hit 60 mph in 8 sec. Not bad. But the thing it was phenomenal at was off-road ability; it was second to none. And the only thing that is built today that comes close to it in terms of power AND looks AND off-road ability is the G55 AMG.

It CANNOT be a mid-engined car. Look at the wheel well. The door cannot be seen next to it. It is OBVIOUS it is a front-engined car from that pic. Could be a 2-door 4-seater, or a 4-door 4-seater. Has to be one of those. It could also be a 2-door 2-seater, but I don't think Lambo would do that. Also, see Lambo's tagline with the 1st pic:
Quote : | ""It's not just a new Lamborghini. It's a whole new world." " |
So clearly, it is not a derivative of an existing car. They might release an SV model of the Murcielago or the Gallardo in Paris next week, but those pics are clearly not it.
For comparison, here is the front of the Murcielago:
See the door right next to the wheel well? Also notice the HUGE difference in size of the brake rotors.

Guys, you like the LM002 and interested in its history?
Well, did you know that the first Lambo off-roader was called as Cheetah and was basically built for the US military? It was built in the US and had a Chrysler engine! It was a 180 hp 5.9 litre engine The Cheetah was the ancestor of the Hummer! (in a way)
OK, if I have your interest, continue reading!
Quote : | "I had never heard of the LM002 until just now so I googled it for more info which lead me to this story which is pretty awesome in a DOH! kind of way." |
The LM002 has been one of my favourite cars since I was like 11-12 years old. The story you posted, I think I read it a couple of years ago, but I am not sure. Cool story. But here is something even cooler. The history of the LM002 is one of the coolest and most interesting to read. For those interested in the LM002 and its history, as well its developmental predecessors, you HAVE to check the following out:
http://www.lambocars.com/archive/lm/lm.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamborghini_Cheetah (first concept, and it was built in the US!) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamborghini_LM001 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamborghini_LM002 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamborghini_LMA002 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamborghini_LM003 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamborghini_LM004
Here are some cool things from those links:
Quote : | "The Lamborghini Cheetah was Lamborghini's first attempt at an off-road vehicle. It was built on contract from Mobility Technology International, which in turn was contracted by the US military to design and build a new all-terrain vehicle." |
Quote : | "The XR311 and Cheetah could be considered progenitors of the current Humvee." |
Quote : | "The US military tested the Cheetah and allegedly destroyed the only prototype. The "damaged" remains were never returned to Lamborghini or MTI." |
And so after that, the military awarded the contract to AM General.
The Cheetah and the LM001 had the [crappy] engine in the rear. In the production model, the LM002, the V12 from the Countach was placed in the front.
Quote : | "The civilian version was often marketed toward rich Saudi sheiks because of its incomparable performance in the desert due to the Scorpion tires, an oversized radiator, and a large air cleaner which sat on top of 6 weber carburators. For those requiring even more power, the 7.2 litre marine V12, more commonly found in Class 1 offshore powerboats, could be specified. (http://www.lambocars.com/archive/lm/lm004.htm)
The military version of the LM002 omitted some of the luxuries, and featured additions including mounting points for machine guns. The Saudi Arabian army ordered 40, each with the roof able to be opened like a hatch over the rear seats.[2] Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi reportedly ordered 100 of them for the use of Libya's military." |
Some special editions:
Quote : | "In 1988 Lamborghini sent an LM002 to a team of special engineers with the intention of making it capable of participating in the Paris Dakar Rally. (http://www.lambocars.com/archive/lm/lm002pd.htm) They stripped it of anything that added unnecessary weight and gave it an upgraded suspension, engine modifications which brought it to 600 hp (450 kW), full roll cage, plexiglas windows, and GPS equipment. Unfortunately, the money ran out before it could be officially be entered in competition, although it did participate in the Rallye des Pharaons in Egypt and another in Greece, both times driven by Sandro Munari." |
Quote : | "Near the end of the LM002's production, a Turin based autoshop owner created a one-off "Estate" version by enclosing the back area and raising the roof. This added significantly to the interior room. (http://www.lambocars.com/archive/lm/lm002sp.htm) " |

3rd teaser pic!
I wish the tail lights were taller/bigger, as on the Murcielago.
Someone on http://www.lambopower.com has put together pics 1 and 3 and extrapolated to make this:
BTW, the name is going to be Estoque.
Quote : | "Instead, the name is Estoque, a special sword used by a bull fighter. The name Estoque is closely related to the Espada name which was used by Lamborghini for their 2-door 4-seater grand tourer which was produced between 1968 and 1978." |

He's a SCIENTOLOGIST. It's something FAR beyond a douche. If you aren't highly familiar with the organization, then I can understand why you consider it a religion. I am extremely familiar with the teachings of the org (I know all about Xenu and the nuclear bombs 75 million years ago as well as a hell of a lot more) and I know just how deep the corruption goes. I know about the Freewinds and knowingly exposing everyone on it to blue asbestos. I know about the sea org and the RPF. If you don't know what this stuff is, then I can see why you think I'm pushing a "religious" agenda. I even know a few people who have been on the inside dude. It is a very dangerous cult, one of the most dangerous in the world right now. Leaving is extremely dangerous and very few people who are deep into the org are able to make it out without extreme repercussions that are eerily similar to leaving a street gang.

See above, no need to feel sorry for me. Most movies suck complete ass.

I know it's pretty hard for you to do, but for me calculating power to weight ratio is extremely simple. The LM002 is nothing great to me, it simply doesn't give me a hard on like it does for you.

fucking hot. finally, with this car, the panamera, and the upcoming rapide, the reign of MB (and Audi) as the sole maker of large super-sedans will come to an end.
^^ look at that rear tyre! that's gotta be 300+ in width!
my only gripe is the rear lights. i wish they were as tall as the ones on the murcielago/gallardo. they are too thin for a car this big, as well as for all that sheetmetal under the lights. their design is nice, they should just be stretched in the vertical direction.
