1) Make sure your yeast isn't old
2) Knead the bread until silky and smooth
3) Mist your oven with water right before putting in the bread for nice crustiness.

wolfpackgrr, you must come to my house when you're stateside, and we will have a breadmaking party.

Another rule: use a strainer/sifter to dust your counter with flour
rub your hands with olive oil before handling bread

UGH last time i was in raleigh my mom made me banana bread and i FORGOT IT

my mom makes some awesome bread. her sourdough is the best she's made it for YEARS upon YEARS and she gives it away at christmas for presents. with homemade turkey noodle soup. and mint jelly with cream cheese and melba toast (that she makes!!)
