So I purchased an Oreck air purifier on eBay from a store in Danville VA last month. Item was used, which didn't matter to me, and said to be in great condition. Well, considering I live about an hour from the store and I had to be in the area the next weekend, I told them I would pick it up instead of having it shipped. So, I bring it home, everything is going fine until about 2 hours after its been running I hear popping noises. I thought my chinchillas were eating seeds, so I ignored it. It took me a few days to figure out that sparks were coming from the unit. I looked inside, and some of the pieces had began to melt, and I'm thinking WTF its gonna burn my house down. So I turned the unit off, e-mailed the guy and explained the situation stating that I wanted a refund and that I'd bring the unit back to them when I got the chance because I live a bit of a distance. He said, no problem.

So, this past Sunday I bring it back to them to find out that they only do eBay items Mon-Fri and can't give me a refund or let me know anything until Monday. I said, fine, figuring the guy would give me a refund through Paypal. I explained the situation to the manager who then went the hell off on me because "Maam, you obviously came in here looking to pick a fight, I don't know who you think you are but we only sell QUALITY items and if this item was messed up, then you did it yourself, deal with it and take the loss." So I'm thinking woa, I just was explaining that the unit was about to catch on fire and I didn't want to burn my house down, and I was laughing, not picking a fight. The manager and I get into an argument (even though he has nothing to do with the eBay seller part of the store) and he tells me he'd give me a receipt and that I could contact the eBay seller the next day. So, I get a receipt stating I dropped the item off, left because I was about to kill the manager, and headed home.

I sent the guy an e-mail telling him to send me a refund through Paypal. Well I get an e-mail the next day stating "we have another air purifier on the floor that you can get instead, next time you're in the area, come check it out". So I asked what kind it was and such, and he let me know that it was some Holmes Wal-Mart POS. Well you can buy it brand new for $30 in the store and I paid $60 for the used Oreck thats originally $600. Well, I didn't want the Wal-Mart crap because it obviously wasn't worth the money that I spent, so the guy explained to me that I had to come to the store to get the refund and that he didn't understand why I didn't get a refund the day I was in the store (which the manager refused to do in the first place). I explained to him the ordeal with the manager and that I'd rather not come back in for the simple fact that if he looked at me the wrong way that I'd probably knock the shit outta him. So I get a reply stating that I'll have to suck it up and deal with the loss, like the manager said.

So now, I'm REALLY pissed. They have the item and my money. So, I call my credit card company and file a Paypal dispute figuring, maybe they'll refund it after I pressure them a bit. Well then I get this e-mail from them saying "BITCH, TOO BAD IT DIDN'T BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN, BURN IN THE PITS OF HELL". So I'm in Rambo mode right now and I'm so feeling the urge to slit some throats and blow heads off. I'm trying to hold my temper because I know I'm gonna go in that store and get arrested.

^^ no, the manager never offered me a refund - he stated that eBay business was only done by the eBay guy 'Taylor' and that it had to be done on the weekdays - then when I spoke to Taylor, he stated that I could have gotten a refund that day, when I really couldn't - and I didn't want to go back to the store knowing I couldn't make it unless it was a weekend and that they wouldn't give me a refund then either, it would be a complete waste of gas
