So I had my old aluminum Powerbook at work last night, and everything was working fine. I closed it up and took it home, and it wouldn't do much of anything...the HD would make a little repetitive clicking sound like it couldn't get going, then a little shuffle sound, then the repetitive clicking again. Since I turned it off at work, it wouldn't even get past the gray boot-up screen.

This happened before about 18 months ago, and it would boot up but I couldn't get any programs to fire up...same little clicking noise. I tried to figure out what was going on, but I eventually gave up and used my desktop for a few months and the next time I had a spare day to try and fix the problem, it had magically gone away.

I would be happy to try that again, but I'm going to need my laptop again in a bad way on Sunday.

Anyone have anything like this happen, or should I be calling a data recovery place and ordering a new computer?
