9/25/2008 10:46:08 PM
JP Morgan Chase is fine - they just bought Washington Mutual after the FDIC closed them.In fact pretty much the only 2 big banks that are doing alright enough to make big purchases are BoA and JPM...they'll come out of this mess pretty.
9/25/2008 10:47:06 PM
9/25/2008 10:47:42 PM
^ there's really no need to freak out. It's not in JPM's interests to get things wrong. They bought WaMu because they want the market share increase and the deposits they bring. Which means keeping those customers happy. The transition is going to take time clearly, but this is no different than if you were say for example at First Union when Wachovia bought them . Your account is perfectly intact and isnt going anywhere (unless you have more than 100k in there which I severely doubt)[Edited on September 25, 2008 at 10:53 PM. Reason : ie]
9/25/2008 10:52:44 PM
I'm not trying to imply anyone's money is in jeopardy; this is more of a 'have this for when you have to deal with dumbass first line CSRs who might fuck shit up'
9/25/2008 10:53:59 PM

9/26/2008 2:53:07 AM
^AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAlthough I really don't care about WaMu, they did have pretty good commercials. At least above average compared to most of the shit that people put out.And yeah, apparently the old roped-off bankers were right. Who woulda thunk...
9/26/2008 3:29:29 AM
seriously though...i cant be the only one that wants this shit to collapse like some dominosi'm guessing the bottom 50% are just waiting to laugh at the top 50% or something...at least i know i am waiting for it...i hope this whole thing is as bad as they make it so i can laugh even harder...although i dont think its all "that" bad
9/26/2008 3:33:48 AM
...So I'm guessing my WAMU credit card will now be a JP Morgan credit card? Or what?
9/26/2008 3:38:38 AM

9/26/2008 11:18:10 AM
When they said "free checking for life" I guess they failed to specified that it was the life of the bank not your life...
9/26/2008 11:24:18 AM
^ahai know a lot of my peers bought into wamu because of their aggressive marketing.. i'm obviously no financial genius or anything, i just never bought into the high interest savings account stuff because it didn't seem right that a bank that would come out offering 4.00% on savings accounts that aggressively. i'd like to see some specifics on some of the investments (mortgage/personal loans) they were making in hopes of securing that return - not overall numbers, just some examples of the types of loans they got stuck with.if anyone knows of any, let me know. i'm curious... gotta do some research, i'm running out of room in my mattress
