My goal is to be able to run almost all of it. That's rather sad
9/25/2008 10:45:57 PM
start training!
9/25/2008 10:46:36 PM
there is no fucking way in the world you'd be able to run all of it
9/25/2008 10:47:23 PM
im gonna make a 5k next month
9/25/2008 10:47:24 PM
i will start running with you
9/25/2008 10:48:35 PM
9/25/2008 10:51:45 PM

9/25/2008 10:52:15 PM
Seriously, RD?
9/25/2008 10:53:23 PM
seriously what?I could run a 5K without stopping with no problemI don't think she could
9/25/2008 10:53:50 PM
C'mon, guyI've heard stories of you huffing and puffing around the tennis courtYou're not allowed to roll in a 5K, you know?
9/25/2008 10:54:58 PM
^^Clearly, you don't fully get the point of setting goals that are slightly unreasonable.^I, too, am skeptical...so thanks for calling him out for me [Edited on September 25, 2008 at 10:55 PM. Reason : fg]
9/25/2008 10:54:59 PM
I think I do about 5,000 posts a month.
9/25/2008 10:55:21 PM
^^I guess not!
9/25/2008 10:55:38 PM
i think it is awesome you are doing a 5K. i keep wanting to sign up for one but i'm too scurred. actually i want to do a mini triathlon but i'm too scurred. so go you. who cares if you don't run all of it. just finish and then when you do the NEXT one you'll run the whole thing.
9/25/2008 10:55:47 PM
^^ ya rly
9/25/2008 10:55:59 PM
9/25/2008 11:00:43 PM
Good Luck.
9/25/2008 11:02:09 PM
Yay! Good luck! I got leftyisreal to sign up with me for a half marathon in a month.
9/25/2008 11:04:34 PM
someone online right now is supposed to be training for a marathon, but I won't name names.
9/25/2008 11:06:44 PM
ambrosia, i think rd is trying to encourage you by saying you cant do it. hes thinking it will motivate you more5k is easy!! start small and work your way up, only stop running when you feel like you really might honestly pass out. you'd be surprised how far you can goi found that once i found a comfortable running speed, the rest was gravyhow long can you run right now without stopping? i have a 5 weeks to a 5k training guide in a fitness magazine i can scan in for you!
9/25/2008 11:09:04 PM
^I don't know, honestly. I quite enjoy just zoning out on the elliptical and stationary bike at the Y; for outside, I've been biking with my mom, so it's been at least two or three weeks since I ran Is it just an accelerated version of this?[Edited on September 25, 2008 at 11:11 PM. Reason : that's not the link I was looking for, but...]this is the link I was looking for[Edited on September 25, 2008 at 11:12 PM. Reason : lkjd]
9/25/2008 11:10:48 PM
WAY less complicatedi'll scan it in now. pm me your email address and i'll email it
9/25/2008 11:12:23 PM
More like you're gonna eat 5k calories per day next month.Like you always do.
9/25/2008 11:13:01 PM
9/25/2008 11:20:28 PM
i just found skinny pictures of myself... so yeah, ill start running[Edited on September 25, 2008 at 11:22 PM. Reason : if i had a status name right now it would be plumper geezus]
9/25/2008 11:21:45 PM
there was a semi-retarded hunchback girl on our cross country team in hs, so if she could do it, anyone can
9/25/2008 11:22:03 PM
9/25/2008 11:22:51 PM
besides setting goals out of your reach is good because then even if you fail you still did awesomeeee and way better than you would have done if you didn't set the goal in the first place
9/25/2008 11:23:57 PM
9/25/2008 11:25:13 PM
how was I criticizing her for not meeting a goalI said she's probably not going to meet itthat's not being critical, that's being realistic
9/25/2008 11:26:01 PM
khcadwal, biking is sooooooo easy. I hadn't ridden in ~6yrs, and I hopped on and did 5ish? miles without a problem (other than being wobbly ).I am actually gonna have to start biking with my dad soon (used to bike 20mi each way to and from work when we lived in texas; has begun biking again recently, and is turning back into a bike fiend) because I'm forever leaving my mother behind.
9/25/2008 11:26:40 PM
SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU UNEMPLOYED SACK OF SHIT
9/25/2008 11:26:51 PM
9/25/2008 11:29:11 PM
15mi on a bike is a lot easier than you think!i did 22.5 last october in wisconsin. yeah i stopped every 2 miles at a bar for a beer but whatever, i finished.. at 11pm in all seriousness, once you get used to switching speeds for hills you'll be good to go. make sure to build some leg muscles beforehand or you might actually not be able to stand afterwards
9/25/2008 11:32:11 PM
i might have missed and and my ADD is kicking in so i don't want to read the whole thread, but what 5k are you planning on running?i saw the bit about the triathalon, that sounds pretty cool. is that part of your goal?
9/25/2008 11:37:56 PM
ahaI didn't post it on purpose; I want to do the triangle triathlon next year, but am too pussy to register for it now
9/25/2008 11:38:32 PM
pm it to me if you don't mind, i might be interested in running one again.it's been a while since i've ran an actual race.
9/25/2008 11:41:34 PM
maybe i will bust out my bike. it probably needs new tired errrrrr something? i don't know much about bike maintenance.but the bike/beer ride ncsuwolfy speaks of sounds amazing. i'd def do one of those haha
9/25/2008 11:46:52 PM
http://www.fattirememorialtour.com/about.htmlthats the link for the bar tour on bikei am truly heartbroken i cant make it this yearits seriously one of the most fun things ive ever done in my life... it helped that i went with 40 people and we camped for the weekend
9/25/2008 11:51:54 PM
on flat ground, biking is as easy as walking. 15 miles is not far, most people can do that in like an hour. the Triangle Triathlon course was pretty hilly though so you want to practice some hills
9/26/2008 12:04:54 AM
I wish this 5K wasn't during Fall Break. By no means would I be able to run any of it, but I'd walk it.
9/26/2008 1:19:31 AM
Silas and I will run/walk with you!Seriously.
9/26/2008 1:26:46 AM
advice: Once you start it, don't quit. Doesn't matter if you're last (especially if this is your first one ever or first one in a long long time), when you finish it you'll be hurting a lil bit sure, but you'll feel great because you did finish it.
9/26/2008 1:27:25 AM
I will run with you!!!I need a goal also. I recently starting running again 2.5 months after my surgery... and I have a long way to go before I get back to the level I was before surgery. Did you already register?
9/26/2008 8:54:44 AM
do it!
9/26/2008 8:59:36 AM
I haven't registered yet because I can't afford the $20 registration fee. I'm gonna call up and see if I can get it waived; otherwise, I probably won't participate, unless I can get someone to pony up the fee for me
9/26/2008 9:06:25 AM
ambrosia you'll do fine in the 5k. Running (on flat ground) isn't that bad at all. Just set a good pace.I'm still recovering from knee surgery but I could go out right now and knock out a 5k in 30 minutes no problem. That triangle triathlelon sounds like fun.
9/26/2008 10:02:36 AM
So, I run a 5K+ erreday. What now.[/gloat]
9/26/2008 10:06:08 AM
i've always ran 2.5 miles at a time, but have 6 weeks to train for a half marathon that i'm gonna try to do. personal gratification ftw?
9/26/2008 10:08:40 AM
set em up]
