1) what is the legality of mounting a flood light in my back window to use on SUVs/Trucks that shine their headlights directly though my fucking windows/into my mirrors?
2) if a county cop starts following me because i was speeding and i'm right near a county border, would he stop following me because i'm not in his jurisdiction anymore or would it become an even more serious offense because i crossed borders or would it not matter?
these are sorta hypothetical 9/26/2008 10:37:06 AM |

1)I don't think it's illegal to mount the floodlight... but to use it would probably be illegal
2)I think if they want to pull you over, they are going to. If you hadn't done anything wrong until crossing the county line, they can pull you over, but they have to wait for another cop (county or trooper) to come write the ticket. 9/26/2008 10:41:18 AM |

i have a "town to town" cop story i can share. not sure if it applies to counties or not.
i was "caught" speeding in morrisville. the cop got behind me in an unmarked ford mustang and followed me about 2.5 miles, at which point i "ran a red light". i didn't actually run it intentionally. i was "following to closely" to an 18-wheeler, so i didn't see that the light had turned red until i went through it. at that point i was in cary. the morrisville cop pulled me over, gave me a ticket for speeding in morrisville, as well as a red light ticket - even though i ran the red light in cary town limits. i have absolutely no idea why he followed me for 2.5 miles without pulling me over for the speeding.
i don't know if i could have argued it or not - but that's what happened. i used a PJC for the red light and got the speeding plead down to 9 over with no penalties, but i still had to pay court costs of course.
so, there you have it. 9/26/2008 10:43:08 AM |

If a cop flips his siren on you while you are in the county, he can follow you where ever you want to go. Give you a ticket where ever you stop at. 9/26/2008 5:22:03 PM |
