Hi guys
I got a 99 Acura 3.2 Tl
For some reason the trunk is not opening when I press the button or use the remote key. It makes a clicking sound but the trunk isn't opening. I was able to open little part in the middle of back seat to pull a little string but it didn't open the trunk and made clicking sound. Is there a way to put the whole back seat down to go into trunk to see what is wrong?? Also, I am a noob when it comes to cars so please try to make the instructions as simple as possible. Thanks in Advance guys. 9/27/2008 7:27:22 PM |

take the back seat out. 2-4 bolts along the bottom of the back cushion, feel your way around. it lifts right out. i forget if you have to remove the seat also. you can find instructions online. looks like the solenoid that actuates a cable to open the trunk is either stripped, loose or disconnected.
you are going to have to remove the trim along the back (the little ledge where the latch resides) & sides of the trunk. i believe the cable and stuff are located on the drivers side, so start there first.
locate cable (could be bound on something) and tug, should open the latch of the trunk.
it's a lot easier to do with the trunk open than closed.
the part is expensive, as are most dealer sourced parts. 9/27/2008 8:44:06 PM |

Hey bro
Thanks for the info I really appreciate it. Do you know a good mechanic in Raleigh/Durham area who won't charge an Arm and leg to open my car trunk? I m sure it's some minor but since I don't have car knowledge I don't want to open it and mess it up even more. 9/28/2008 9:01:15 AM |

At least your trunk doesn't have a leak you can't fix 9/29/2008 9:33:57 AM |

sit on the trunk or push down really hard and have someone else press the release button. Something may be caught in the catch. 9/29/2008 11:49:17 AM |

don't you have two gaskets on your trunk? the one that fits on the door and one on the body?
did you replace those two? have you checked the seal around the glass? the leak could be there.
this is besides the point, have you checked the drain tubes for the sunroof?9/30/2008 11:59:42 PM |

Be sure to try greasing the latch before you drop serious $ on a new solenoid. 10/1/2008 12:17:09 AM |

Can anyone tell me how to take the back seat out so I can access the trunk from inside? I took 4 screws out and tried pushing up but it's not coming out. Is there anything else holding the back seat?
Also, can someone provide a blow up diagram of 99 Acura 3.2 tl trunk lock so I'll know what is messed up and need replacement. Thanks guys.
