my roommate's girlfriend found a cat last night near lorimer and western blvd. has a nice collar and looks like an indoor cat. we brought it inside to call the pet finder service that was on her tag on the collar but they said the phone number they have on record for the owners is wrong. anyone lose a cat? it is a very young grey and white cat and is very sweet. their records show that the owner is on buncombe st but they can not give us a name or address.

anyone have an old litter box and kitty litter sitting around?

Can't they at least look up the owner's name and then look that person up in the yellow pages or something? It doesn't seem like a very good pet finder service otherwise.

they can only give me the street name and she had to do it in a roundabout way. she asked me for my address and then said, "is that near buncombe st? you should start looking for the owner there."

its very sweet and i wouldn't mind keeping it, but it has a nice collar and tag so i imagine the owner is probably looking for it somewhere.

I know they can't give YOU the name ... but why can they not at least attempt to find the correct contact phone number of the person so THEY can contact them? Or if they have their address they should be able to do a hell of a lot better than telling the person who calls them to start looking for the owner around a certain street. It just seems like they're totally half-assing their own service to me.

the street is not that long, but it is also about 5 miles from where the cat was found so i think the owners may have moved

you just kidnapped a damn cat. most cat owners let their cats roam.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too.

And 5 miles isn't far for a cat to wander. It's amazing how far those buggers can get.

in the process of trying to find the owner we found the contact that the pet finding service had and they have no idea whose cat it is.

You know around where the owner lives. Put up signs with your contact information so they can call you if they want their cat back.

Maybe call around to some of the vet offices in the area and give them a description or drop off a picture and info. Someone might call local vet offices looking for their lost cat.

If they care about the cat there will be some flyers around Buncombe St. in the next few days. Might as well hang onto it until then.

Contact the animal shelter as well, they keep a list of found animals even if you don't want to turn the cat over. Most owners look there if they want a pet back.
