Heard he was booed off the field vs SFlorida for trying to start those faggot ass pre-game cheers like he did vs ECU. Anyone notice this?

Yeah, his mic wasn't working. He looked over at us, shrugged his shoulders and just left the field. I think someone in the press box hates them, too. Why does everyone hate them so much? Every other university's game I've gone to they have cheers for their games (UVA, Tenn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida State). I honestly don't get the hate.

He didn't get booed off the field, his mic wasn't working and he got off the field. The cheerleaders did a decent job of spelling so we were able to follow the cheers anyway. I think its great that they're trying to add some cheers to the band music.

Don't get me wrong, I love that the band is playing more often in the games now.

But sometimes, some of the loud, deep, intimidating-sounding music is just out of place after the opponent gets a 30-yard gain.



I wanted to :facepalm: several times Saturday. When they played "Night on Bald Mountain" after Grothe got USF substantial gains...

The band only plays when we are on defense or there is a time out, so I don't see how the band is playing when our team is in a huddle (that means anything).

Our selection of music is growing, but we only usually have about 20 seconds to play a song. This is only enough time for our short tunes, which are usually "loud, deep, intimidating-sounding music" or the fight song.

Hey I gotcha. I did marching band four years in high school. I know it's much different in college, but I'm familiar with the general way it works.

But, still, Night on Bald Mountain is great. It's great for successful goal-line stands, sacks, stops on third down. Not quite as great when the defense gives up a long pass completion.



But seriously, you guys do a great job, and I love watching you.

I like the band too, but there are a few times where they have played while we were on offense all the way up until we broke the huddle. When were on O let our guys talk. They need all the help they can get.

We did play sometimes on offence during the USF game, which a lot of us don't like to do either, but sometimes the people calling the songs don't quite get it

He did get booed as soon as he walked on the field at the USF game. Then his mic didn't work and he just walked off the field.

Sure he is a nice guy and I appreciate what he does for the university. However, it was Grade A Cheesy and Corny to come out there and try to teach us some cheers. I have never seen that before and it was embarassing. I hope he doesn't try it this saturday.

^^I guess what I want to know is if they're not told to you, how would you expect the cheers to catch on? Just let them develop spontaneously?
