I have read Watchmen many, many times.

I will be seeing the movie, but I'm apprehensive about it.

WATCHMEN SPOILER ALERTS FOR N00BS

1. do you think they really aren't doing the squid, or is this misdirection
2. if they aren't doing it - do you think they made a wise decision to change the ending to make it more palatable to non-nerds
3. what parts from the books are you most looking forward to seeing on film?

i don't think they're doing the squid
i think they'd better have a damn good replacement ending
and i'm really looking forward to the scene where the comedian explains "Only once" and the scene where he shoots his pregnant vietnamese chickee and manhattan does nothign to save her

END WATCHMEN SPOILERS

1. i wouldn't be surprised if they're not doing the squid, but...2. i'm not convinced there's a better way to do it that doesn't require the same suspension of disbelief that the squid does

3. - that scene with the comedian and manhattan will be a good one
- i'm looking forward to seeing jackie earle haley rip it up as kovacs in the psych sessions
- the opening bubble scene with ozy's henchmen
- manhattan learning to reconstitute himself and body systems flashing up out of nowhere...interested to see how they keep that from being cartoony as well; the fact that billy crudup's regular voice just doesn't fit manhattan's spock-like sense of rationality if a whole different matter

breaking away is one of my favorite films to introduce people to

because i have very few friends who had even heard of it before i bring it up, and i've yet to show it to someone who does not enjoy it

where do you think it ranks in the parthenon of sports movies

in no particular order

deerhunter - microcastle/weird era cont.
she & him - volume 1
los campesinos - hold on now, youngster
marnie stern - this is it and i am it and you are it and so is that and he is it and she is it and it is it and that is that
cloud cult - feel good ghosts (teapartying through tornados)
mgmt - oracular spectacular

that's probably it...there are other good albums, but none that i just couldn't stop listening to

1. Would you like to be in a progressive hardcore metal band with me? We've got a vocalist, just looking for a guitar player.

2. I was thinking about reading those Twilight books. Are they any good?

3. So Wall-E is a pretty terrible movie, right? I heard it was just a dumb movie for kids.

1. I aim to please, so yes.

2. I haven't read those particular novels, but people seem to like them, so they must be worthwhile.

3. Wall-E is a beautiful, wonderful movie that is appropriate for any and all.

Unfortunately, I cannot listen to music while engaging in such activities. I focus too much on the beauty of its parts and not on the beauty of your parts.

We can make our own music

Give me a good book to read that isn't super brain bruising. An easy read if you will. I'm still learning how to read.
