So this morning I was pulled over:Cop: "Do you realize you cut that woman off back there?"Me: "I checked my mirrors and had on my turn signal before changing lanes, there should have been plenty of room."Cop: "She had to slam her brakes and hit her horn as not to hit you"Me: "I checked twice and moved after the vehicle in front of her made a left turn onto Ray St. She had to slow down for that vehicle to turn and after the intersection there was plenty of room between us."Cop: "I was behind you, I saw the whole thing"Me: "I know, I wouldn't have cut off an elderly woman, especially with an officer behind me. I was doing 32 MPH due to the hill, I knew she was accelerating but we were all approaching the red light at East St, where I was going to make my left."Cop: "License and registration"* Fifteen minutes pass *Cop: "Here's your license and registration. You've been charged with changing lanes in an unsafe manner. In addition, you've also been charged with operating a vehicle with an unsigned registration. Sir do you realize that is a Class II misdemeanor?"Me: "No officer I did not, would you like me to sign it now?"Cop: "You should sign it before moving your vehicle, however the ticket has already been issued. Do you know where the Wake County Courthouse is?"Me: "Yes sir, I work across the street."Cop: "Do you have any further questions?"Me: "Why do you think I would cut off an elderly black woman in front of a cop, because it just sounds silly to me. Doesn't matter, I'll hear your reply in court."Cop: *Huffs and returns to his patrol car*

10/2/2008 11:59:13 AM
sounds rather articulate for someone who's been pulled over
10/2/2008 11:59:38 AM
Shit, I guess I need to sign that registration in my car...
10/2/2008 11:59:42 AM
10/2/2008 12:00:17 PM
supposed to be a $50 fine...at least used to be
10/2/2008 12:01:35 PM
lawyer: James Crouch. He'll treat you right and make sure that you get off. you won't get anything on your record and he'll make the cop look like an asshole. good lawyer and if you're not in the wrong and are being mau-maued then he'll charge you fairly.
10/2/2008 12:01:50 PM
Also note, I was pulled back in March for speeding, which was dismissed, the same registration card (obviously still unsigned).I currently have NO points on my license and the worst thing tied to me is a $25 parking ticket I got three weeks ago.
10/2/2008 12:02:16 PM
10/2/2008 12:02:18 PM
By the way, I gently changed lanes, no wheel jerk or anything crazy. This is my morning commute, I know it like the back of my hand, I also drive in the middle lane until I make the left onto East St from Edenton St.It is just funny because I described the scene perfectly (by the way, it was an SUV, most likely a Honda CRV that turned onto Ray St.) and I had an idea that the woman was accelerating fast BUT there was over a car length between our bumpers and she was accelerating from almost a dead stop, I was moving at a steady 32 MPH. When I changed lanes immediately after Ray St. she only would have had to slam her brakes if I hadn't kept my speed, which I did.
10/2/2008 12:06:52 PM
that's some bs he gave you a ticket for unsigned registration; I'd almost be certain that will get tossed by presenting signed registration in court.
10/2/2008 12:07:26 PM
How expensive is James Couch? The cop made sure to scan a copy of my unsigned registration. He's a young cop and will most likely show up in court. This is why I want to hire a lawyer, if I can get James Couch for an inexpensive rate and he'll make Officer R W Wyrick, JR look like the jerk he was, I'd appreciate it.
10/2/2008 12:10:04 PM
^^yeah. 10/10 would break the law again.i don't know his prices but i think it'll be about 400 from what i can tell.[Edited on October 2, 2008 at 12:11 PM. Reason : $$$$]
10/2/2008 12:10:15 PM
Lawyers are usually always cheaper than the amount you'll pay because of higher insurance rates over X amount of time.
10/2/2008 12:12:13 PM
Trust me, I know it is ALWAYS better to get a lawyer.Had this been an older cop, I would just go to court myself since he would most likely not show up.However, it being a young cop, and one that was bound and determined to write me a ticket, I want a lawyer to go and fight this battle for me.
10/2/2008 12:13:37 PM
10/2/2008 12:14:45 PM
crouch isn't cheap[Edited on October 2, 2008 at 12:17 PM. Reason : and it'll be your word against the cop's; you'll probably lose]

james crouch has stolen my slogan [Edited on October 2, 2008 at 12:15 PM. Reason : ^^]
10/2/2008 12:15:27 PM
^^i beg to differ. i've had to go see him twice, and both times the price he quoted me was less than other lawyers in the area whom i researched. his prices are right there with everyone else, and on occasion he is cheaper. i'd say he is inexpensive, respectively.
10/2/2008 12:17:40 PM
^^^it's cute how you think they actually handle these cases this in a fair, logical, survey the evidence/testimony manner.crooked lawyers, judges, and DAs ftw (sometimes...)[Edited on October 2, 2008 at 12:20 PM. Reason : das]
10/2/2008 12:19:43 PM
^5 ahahahahahahahaha
10/2/2008 12:20:27 PM
^^judges only get paid off in the movies; nobody is gonna risk their career over an improper lane change and the judge will almost always believe the cop over the defendant
10/2/2008 12:25:07 PM
i had to get a lawyer b/c a cop lied about my speed when writing a ticket.hired crouch. in car camera didn't coincide with his statement. no punishment for him. cost me ~$300, no ticket.what pissed me off the most was his bullshit about "it's your god given right to contest". i said "you're damned right i will". i asked him why he would mention god, when he was obviously lying just to write me a ticket, he walked away.people who wouldn't be able to afford lawyers would be screwed. wtf.assholes.

10/2/2008 12:27:47 PM
awww, look guys, fecal has faith in our judicial system
10/2/2008 12:27:53 PM
oh, i have no doubt that there are crooked DAs and judges. but, they're the exception and unless they're idiots they're not going to take a $100 bribe over a traffic citation
10/2/2008 12:30:47 PM
we're not talkin about $100 bribeswe're talkin about tens of thousands of dollars to be on that lawyer's side for a while
10/2/2008 12:32:12 PM
^^so do you want to take bets? i'll bet you dinner/money/whatever that if he gets a lawyer he'll get off on both charges.
10/2/2008 12:38:25 PM
Yeah, when given the choice between a cop or a driver, the cop wins. The only thing that would get you over a cop is having a witness in the vehicle, and even then it could be a stretch. What I love the most about our judicial system is that no matter what, even if found innocent you have to pay the court fees. Such BS, I think the cop that wrote the bogus ticket should have to pay them, but that's a bitter and angry driver responding.
10/2/2008 12:38:49 PM
uh, just because you're not convicted doesn't mean someone bribed the judge, homie
10/2/2008 12:39:28 PM
i agree, but it was you who took it to the level of bribing and asserted that otherwise he wouldn't get off. crooked doesn't necessarily always mean case by case bribes.
10/2/2008 12:41:46 PM
monsieur riverrat brought up crooked judges, b[Edited on October 2, 2008 at 12:45 PM. Reason : and i didn't say he wouldn't get off, i said the judge wouldn't take his word over the cop]

10/2/2008 1:10:07 PM
I try to use as little words as possible when talking to a cop. arguing with them just gives them ammo.
10/2/2008 1:11:11 PM
10/2/2008 1:26:00 PM
who's James Crouch's son?
10/2/2008 1:46:25 PM
i just spoke to Mr. Crouch. he will be representing me on 10/16 for running a red light.he is not THAT expensive for what it would cost me in the long run
10/2/2008 2:10:15 PM
you'll get the unsigned registration dropped and the unsafe lane changing reduced to unsafe movement.
10/2/2008 2:18:25 PM
i've had James Crouch represent me on a few occasions. he's not really expensive...pretty much standard rate for a traffic lawyer.
10/2/2008 2:28:22 PM
damn, you fags.. you dont need a lawyer for this in court.jeez. go there with your reg. signed and explain your situation.if they dont drop it, then go back with a lawyer.
