you kids can come here and read about me to avoid making false, ignorant statements about my political affiliations, thusly proving you aren't reading anything about what i'm posting, and ultimately implying that I'm communist, an Obama fanboy, socialist, or any of the above.
1) I am a southern man who feels the south generally gets a really, really bad rap.
2) my personal politics are conservative, HOWEVER, I'm VERY liberal in a social sense. I feel another person's politics should not be legislated or judged by anyone. you ought to be able to do what the fuck you want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else, or interfere with law.
3) I am for gay marriage.
4) I am for the death penalty.
5) I am for closing off our borders, or at least cutting immigration down quite considerably. --I am thusly for keeping jobs for Americans, and slowing our ever-booming population.
6) I am for tax breaks for middle class.
7) I am atheist.
8) I am for beefing up our border security 10-fold, and getting the fuck out of other countries.
9) I am for Chinese-style population control, or at least making it EASIER for good, well-to-do people to adopt, while placing a limit on how frequently a poor, uneducated imbecile can reproduce.
Basically, I suppose I don't have a political label. Apparently, that's wrong. I also acknowledge that half the shit I believe in isn't attainable, and that's fine.

ah, good lookin, bill.
GUN CONTROL - kinda the same thing as with reproducing. there ought to be EXTENSIVE background checks and mental/emotional scans before being able to buy a gun. that said, I'm for concealed carrying for apt people.
ABORTION - iffy. case sensitive. i certainly don't like the idea of "dead babies", and hate dead baby jokes. i think if you abort twice with no instance of assault or abuse, you ought to be tied off. if you're raped, etc etc, you ought to have the right to abort.
WELFARE - man, i don't even know. don't know enough about it, I came up in a middle class family in the country, have never had any dealings with it. my first inclination is to say it's to accessible, though.
MILITARY - keep it here. gtfo of other countries, make our borders the strongest in the world.
AFFIRMATIVE ACTION - again, iffy. i know the poor curve slants pretty heavy to the side of african americans, and I fully acknowledge some of the historical relevance in favor of it. however, I feel it's too much of a crutch these days. though, I don't know THAT much about it, except that--to me--it lowers the standard for people of color to perform, seemingly.
LOTTERIES - sure.
EDUCATION - WE NEEDS IT BAD K?
ENVIRONMENT - seriously. WE are fucking it, and have been for centuries. the right needs to get its head out of its ass.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION - will need to very soon broaden its scope as we are quickly gentrifying large cities to the point where poor people HAVE to move to the periphery. and as long as gas prices keep being deemed by filthy, FILTHY rich old white motherfuckers sitting in towers with no government intervention (yes, i'm for government regulation on oil prices), the poor displaced will have no way to get to work, commerce, etc.
but, then again, the rich don't care about the poor.

Dear Joel....
I agree with everything you said cept the atheist thing i believe in something... but i don't know what.. I think anyone on government support should be spayed or neutered after having a single child while on government support. And should get no more money for doing so. If they can't make ends meet on what they were originally given the child should be put up for adoption...
Seriously we need to get our youth out of the hands of the ignorant...
I too would like to hear your position on
gun control? I'm against abortion? I personally would want to have the child but its a woman's choice welfare? but i think it boosts the economy military? we need one affirmative action? i think we're good enough lotteries? Poor tax but hell it goes to education and gives people hope i'm all for it education? We need more smart kid schools so the dumb kids don't hold them back environment? I'm all for saving everything we can. public transportation/transportation infrastructure? every city in nc is about 10 years behind in this shit.... charlotte should have a full blown train system by now and what do we have ? one fucking light rail that goes straight.... north/ south
i'm adding
Energy... as much as i hate france their full nuclear power grid is the shit... we need to do it. 10/3/2008 9:24:19 AM |

so far there is: 1 - location, sex, background 2 - self take 3 - homos? yay/nay (gay rights/opinions) 4 - kill 'em all yay/nay? (death penalty) 5 - border control 6 - giving money to poor folk from rich folk just because they are rich? (taxes) 7 - religious preference? (should be in #1 perhaps) 8 - foreign policy (general) 9 - guns? 10 - killing fetuses? (abortion) 11 - baby mamma support? (welfare) 12 - military use/preference/size etc 13 - statistical stealing of money? (lottery?) 14 - give someone under qualified a job over someone more qualified? (affirmative action) 15 - education? (opinions ideas changes) 16 - public transit/ transit infrastructure? 17 - energy policies? 18 - population / social control
any others? 10/3/2008 9:41:30 AM |

I do say this gets moved to soap box because it can be used as a good reference point for people. I too would like to participate in this.
VIEW - I feel that I represent the "new south" and part of a movement that is becoming increasingly liberal as these southern states lend themselves to larger metropolitan areas. I feel it has taken us a long time to get here and for our social views to evolve politically and that soon we will represent a silent majority that will hold a more socially liberal perspective. I am a registered republican, but haven't voted it in a while.
THE FISCAL AND SOCIAL - my fiscal politics are conservative, HOWEVER, I'm VERY liberal in a social sense. I feel the government should be removed from peoples lives as much as possible and the only role of government is to protect the welfare and rights of its citizens. With this perspective it is very easy to walk the rope of fiscal conservatism and social liberalism.
GAY MARRIAGE - gays can get married and live next door to me for all i care. see the above about being socially liberal and little government.
DEATH PENALTY - I am in no way a fan of the death penalty. I favor rehabilitation instead. putting someone to death does not make the crime go away.
IMMIGRATION AND BORDER CONTROL - I am fine with immigration. It assists us in a cheaper work force and provides workers for jobs people would otherwise not do. I feel the claims about the negatives and the costs of immigration are greatly over exaggerated when compared to the weight of the goods that come from it.
TAXES - I am for tax breaks for middle class.
RELIGION - I believe in G-d. If you do or do not, that is your own personal issue and I should have no role in it, nor should bodies of government. Your belief in this arena should not be a requirement for office. I do not believe that a belief in G-d immediately suffuses one with morals nor do i think not believing in the almighty deprives one of them.
FOREIGN POLICY -We need to practice more non-interventionalism. This will be for the benefit of our budget and our own national security. GUN CONTROL - Background checks, waiting periods, and other tests I think should be a requirement. This by no means restricts anyone who is reasonable and pure in their intentions from having a gun, so there is no disregard for the second amendment rights. Fully automatic weapons should not be allowed.
ABORTION - . depends on the case. I personally would not have one, but I feel that is my choice. I feel life begins at conception, but that for me is based around spirituality and should not be dictated and enforced on anyone else. If someone chooses to do it, then it is something for which they may have to one day answer, i'm not the one to judge them. I do not find it to be the federal governments role to outlaw it nationally, but I do think that states should have a say in it and if it is banned in one state and worth it for them to travel to another they can act on that choice. Term limits should be guaranteed.
WELFARE - we have too much of this on both the corporate and the public level. This needs to be restricted and reevaluated on a yearly basis to make sure its not draining funds that we would otherwise need. For the companies I would say we should provide them with their welfare conditionally based on how much their involvement is actually helping the communities around them or their policies benefit the nation at large. For people I would make the same thing true, and expect active community involvement and have a system create job paths with a road map of job development and a time line of limitations and welfare withdrawal.
MILITARY - Reduce spending by keeping our boys home. Train them well and fund them well here. This can be done reasonably and I feel our military would actually be the stronger for it.
AFFIRMATIVE ACTION - This helps out women as much as minorities, and people tend to forget this. However, I think it needs to be replaced with an economic qualifier rather than a race or gender based one. Many of the people who receive the assistance now from AA still would with a economic grade scale. Also now the misconceptions about AA allow for misunderstandings and often foments distrust and distaste which can hurt developing race relations.
LOTTERIES - sure.
EDUCATION - We never put enough money into this and its the first thing cut from budgets. This will bite us in the foot. It may have been an okay safe bet when we were the only world leaders but it is now a global community and we are competing not only with the people down the street, in the next town, or three states away, but also those from china, india, germany, etc... This needs to be fixed. Educational attainment also directly relates to crime and I believe a better standard of education and an end of playing to the lowest common denominator will lead to lower crime rates, better workforce and a stronger economy
ENVIRONMENT - Its hard to assume that a planet that was designed to work as a system has seen no adverse effects to its system despite our constant involvement with the mechanisms in which it works. Its also hard to argue that going green will be worse for us in the long run. Clearly we need to put more time and concern into these issues.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION - We need more of this in this nation. It could lower overall emissions as well as provide the necessary growth in infrastructure that is needed as the population of the united states continues to grow from both birth and immigration and as areas become more urbanized. I think it would also widen the scope of job possibilities for americans as they will be able to take advantage of a wider radius for potential employment. 10/3/2008 10:05:25 AM |

1.) I agree with you
2.) I'm pretty much conservative, but with a few liberal views. I don't really care what you do in private, that's your choice, as long as it doesn't harm others.
3.) I don't support gay marriage, gay rights, or anything like that. Again, what you do in private is your choice. HOWEVER, I don't really support government involvement & laws effecting someone's private life. That being said, I abstain from any real "decision" on this.
4.) I love the death penalty, and we should use it. Though the justice system needs to be reformed before we start frying people.
5.) I agree. Let's secure our borders and start limiting immigration. We were ONCE a nation of immigrants. This is no longer the case.
6.) I'm in favor of tax breaks for all, bottom-weighted of course.
7.) I'm undecided on religion
8.) I agree, GTFO of other countries militarily, financially, etc., unless we have outstanding reason, multi-national support, and the support of said country to be there.
9.) Adoption needs to be made easier and adoption fraud needs to be stopped. While I agree that the poor should limit their offspring, I'm still not a fan of big government.
10.) Gun control = 2 hands. But also extensive BG checks, mental health checks. It has been shown that stricter gun control laws often leads to an increase in crime. Criminals will get guns no matter what the law says. So why take guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens?
11.) Abortion - I don't agree with it in any circumstance. But like the gay issues, I don't like the government in my personal business. A law either way wouldn't upset me, thus I would abstain.
12.) Our welfare system is broken, and I don't know how to fix it. Sure, some people are deserving, but many people are milking the government. Welfare, like affirmative action, is a crutch and does not give people incentive to succeed on their own.
13.) Military - one of our biggest assets, has large economic impacts, and is very much needed. Again, let's get out of places we don't belong, change our laws to use the military on our borders. Let's not forget that we do have enemies. Many made because of our foreign policy - but this is no reason to start limiting our military. We just need to reapply their efforts in better ways.
14.) Affirmative action - outdated system. gives minorities no incentive to work. is essentially a racist program. I see far too many minorities succeeding to warrant the need for this program. personal responsibility and diligence is all you need.
15.) Lotteries - great stuff, as long as the money goes to where it's supposed to. Lotteries are not a tax.
16.) Education - needs fixing, however, I don't support throwing millions of dollars into grade schools. The system needs fixing first, then throw money at colleges/students to become better teachers, and raise teacher salaries. after that, we can start throwing more money into grade schools. Lottery money should have gone to fix our teacher incentives/education.
17.) Environment - I'm not a green-freak or environmentalist. However, I do know that conservation and fixing our environment will only help the world. My whole education, and career is dedicated to improving the environment with solutions that are financially, structurally, and socially feasible.
18.) Public transportation - cities need to improve their systems. Infrastructure needs to be updated and repaired. If this doesn't happen, our economy will suffer horribly, as well as the environment.

didn't say that, and I'm surprised at you, of all people, to make that jump at my expense.
just think there ought to be something in place that prohibits careless, negligent procreation in cases where the child will have no choice but to be provided for by government programs. i also think it's way too difficult to adopt.

1.) I largely identify as a Southerner, despite being born in New Jersey. (Dad born in Texas, mom in Virginia.) Of course, I'm a New Mexican now, so things may shift again.
2.) I'm a radical.
3.) I support gay marriage only for the sake of equality. I consider marriage a patriarchal institution.
4.) I reject the death penalty. Prisons, too.
5.) I want to abolish borders entirely. They're artificial and harmful.
6.) I dislike the both the state and the price system. If must have taxes, however, I support taking as much as possible from the rich.
7.) I'll have to pass here.
8.) I oppose sending people with guns to bully overseas.
9.) I can't support population control by force.
10.) I oppose government restrictions on gun ownership. At the same time, I roll my eyes at folks who think the ideal society has everybody packing at all times. No, that's not the way to stop violence.
11.) Abortion - Shouldn't even be an issue. Preventing unwanted pregnancies requires no technology. I find abortion personally worrisome, but it's not my body.
12.) I want to reorganize society to distribute goods and services to all equality. Government handouts serve as a poor substitute, but I'll take what I can get.

15.) Lotteries - A silly artifact of the price system.
16.) Education - Needs to be restructured and made voluntary. Yes, I want freedom for minors as much as anybody else. Grades and competition have to go.
17.) Environment - We should use technology to reduce pollution. In the short term, I encourage people to consume fewer resources and less energy.
18.) Public transportation - We can do much, much better here. 10/3/2008 11:12:56 AM |

1 - Durham/Dhaharan/Raleigh, all family from well south of the Mason Dixon Line, Cary is overrated and Durham is underrated (which is good)
2 - conservative in regards to how much i want the government in my life (fed, state, local) relatively liberal on most other social issues.
3 - if you're gay i don't care but you don't have to publicize it so excessively
4 - pro death penalty (would like to modify the process to include independent review with fewer appeals to speed up the process and help avoid wrongful imprisonments and deaths of the innocent)
5 - border control - need to either let everyone in with processing (like we used to do) or actually enforce border laws (fence/wall/turrets whatever)
6 - the lower taxes are the better i only think government should do a few things, police, military, laws about stealing killing rape scams (being huge dicks/jerks to the detriment to others), and infrastructure.
7 - Catholic with alternative views on some things (should be in #1 perhaps)
8 - reduce foreign base presence, one major one in each theater and smaller outposts in every country that wants us. (move major mid east base to baharain or some other tiny country that's less religiously narrow (general)
9 - pro gun
10 - pro life with limited exceptions
11 - not a fan (welfare)
12 - large, restructured, flexible, modern, faster acting, more effective, integrated, precise.
13 - hey do what you want with your money, so long as the proceeds actually go to what they say they will go to (lottery?)

I love the death penalty, in fact take the criminal outback and shoot him square in the head. People these days are realizing there's no punishment for their actions due to bleeding heart Americans. They can rape, murder, rob, and use excessive violence for a smack on the hand and maybe some probation.
It's fucked up. Once people realize there are dire consequences for the horrendous acts they are committing maybe the crime rate will go down. 10/3/2008 11:39:38 AM |
