It was too boring for me to watch the whole movie in one sitting (I've seen the whole thing in pieces though).

So... apparently a movie that makes people want to go do something else is considered stellar.

The average joe that goes to see Eagle Eye or xXx 2 or meet the spartans isn't going to appreciate the space odysseys and citizen kanes and taxi drivers of the world.

Doesn't mean those movies aren't examples of filmmaking at its finest because they or you can't sit through them.

now if you're looking for mindless entertainment like transformers, 2001 is the worst movie of all time.

I love Space Odyseey, Citzen Kane, and Taxi Driver. I also enjoyed Eagle Eye (a bit).

I didn't find Citizen Kane too great but I really enjoyed 2001 and most of Kubrick's other films. I recently bought the 2001 book, the whole Odyssey series it is queued in my list of "to read".
