anyone ever pirate any maps for this thing?

it seems stupid to pay another $60-70 for current maps when for ~$170 I can get a nicer and more up to date (but still discontinued) Garmin product like the nuvi 650

especially considering the known battery problem with the C330... but the price is really intriguing and the fact that it comes standard with a windshield mount and car charger

if I could update the software for free I would be all about this thing

it's easy to pirate maps. just download them from a torrent site and follow the instructions. it's not as easy as a cd, but it isn't bad.

The maps seem like such a scam. Imagine if Windows charged you for updates or PC companies charged for BIOS flashes? Do any of the major vendors offer free updates?

I think you usually get 1 free update if you buy the GPS and it doesn't have the most current map.

This is true, but only for new units. At least from Garmin thats the way it is. There was a big shitfit a few years ago from people buying nuvi's just before a new map release and having to pay for it.
