I don't know how to describe what I see when I'm playing. It looks like various planes in the game are stretched and distort the screen.

It's happened with Never Winter Nights 2 and WoW.

Intel Pentium D 3.4GHz
Mobo is ASRock 775Dual-VSTA
Vid Card is Sapphire 2600pro 512mb pcie
2gb DDR2 ram

Im not sure what to adjust or where. I've fooled with the settings of the card, and I'm not even sure what to google for for help

Please advise

Uninstall video driver, restart
Install latest video driver for you graphics card, restart

If problem persists, it's likely your VRAM is failing on the card and you'll need an RMA.

I only say look into the driver issue first because it's not typical artifacting. You can also reduce your video detail settings in game and see if the problem goes away, it could be it's overheating your video card, but it's not likely with a game as old as WoW and a 2600 pro

Reinstall directX while you're at it.

and you might want to run 3dmark or something and stress test the card.

If you've overclocked your card, set it back to factory settings...

^ I haven't overclocked this card

Could this be the result of some sort of thermal problem? I mean, I could make it so the card stays a lot cooler by placing the air intake on the case directly over my A/C vent, but I dont want to re arrange shit in my office unless I have to

WoW shouldn't be overheating your card under any normal circumstances.

my video card on my laptop was doing the same thing earlier this year. Updated the drivers and reinstalled directX. Ran the laptop through a full diagnostics and found a number of corrupted video memory addresses. RMA my laptop and now works fine.

lolz the sweet looking staff is part of the probem...I think the character was armed with a club at the time

When I change the multisampling in WoW in the video options, it will temporarily fix teh issue, but when I come into a town or mission or something, the rendering will go to shit again.

if only i had a Risk Managment Audit

Ok I RMA'd the card and received a replacement. The plane distortion continues:

Any other ideas?

RMA the second card? I mean it's not impossible to get another faulty card... especially if their return policy is replace a faulty card with a refurbished one.

Download gpuz check the clock rates on the core and memory. More important probably for the memory. Compare those to what your stock is. If they are higher then turn them down with CCC. Actually. Just try turning down your clocks in CCC anyway. I would start by like 5 or 10 for core and memory... then maybe more. This may get you to a stable range. Sucks if you have to underclock your card to get it to work though. If it does work then I would probably RMA the card again... Cause you know its junk.

A second thought is check in your bios. If you have a board that allows for adjusting the PCI-e clock rate or overclock the card (vga overclocking or something like that) in any way through the board you want to turn that off. The standard clock setting on my board for my graphics card is 100mhz.

Hope that helps.
