Awesomo and Frakenstein's monster weren't robots.

Isaac Asimov wrote tons of robot short stories in the 50s and 60s, a lot of them dealt with problematic robots that said "no" in some way or another. Most of the ones I have read involved the robot saying know due to it's programming though... not because the robot actually became self aware.
