McCain announced plan to purchase all mortgages and settle debt to deappreciated home value.
This probably the most un-Republican plan ever. It seperates him from Bush and all reports show this to be the foundation of the crisis. This has some potential. 10/9/2008 1:07:36 PM |

its a terrible plan. we're fucked. its sort of reaching, but I think it will sell well to voters. 10/9/2008 1:10:59 PM |

Should I stop paying my mortgage if McCain gets elected so that I can take part in his bailout? I'm worried that if I keep paying they'll refuse to help me get in on the free stuff. 10/9/2008 1:29:10 PM |

While we're on the topic of skipping out on payments...Nobody ever gave me a decent explanation as to why I shouldn't buy everything I want, default on the payments, and then file bankruptcy.
I know my credit would have been ruined for 7 years, but why would I need credit if I had a house full of furniture and a car? 10/9/2008 1:54:06 PM |

^ yeah they try to sell your shit back and re-coop the losses.... you'd have to buy all the shit , give it to your mom then bail on the payments. 10/9/2008 2:28:23 PM |

i'm starting to lean towards not voting for President/voting Libertarian (without any real desire to see their nutball candidate elected)

i think its a great plan. its really gets the republican base fired up. mccain is going to fix this meltdown without pandering to the liberal elite on wall street who started this whole mess. 10/9/2008 2:42:55 PM |

^^ ha, i don't know exactly how i'd get it to you or what i'd make. i have plenty of sand, but not much else.
^ there's "near-beer"...the so-called non-alcoholic type. i mean, i wouldn't be the first person to have some smuggled in through the mail, but it's not really worth the risk. 10/9/2008 2:49:14 PM |

I dunno. I remember Dr. Huggard saying they don't take your house or your car. I mean, they can repo the furniture. I'll just buy all new stuff with like one month's salary. 10/9/2008 2:50:13 PM |

i feel sorry for anyone who has their home taken over by the government
find someone who was ever in default on a student loan and find out just how "helpful" the government is when you owe them money. it's sick. almost ruined me as far as credit goes. i was in default for 3 years and had no idea... until suddenly my paycheck started getting garnished without any explaination. lucky for me my attorney got it set up so if they fixed my balance and took off the negative credit marks... if i paid that amount in full.
the only thing that saved my ass was the fact that they only went into repayment mode cause ncsu kicked me out of school illegally and i suddenly found out one day i was 3 years behind on my student loan payment. it was a subsidized stafford that was not supposed to require payment or draw interest until i was out of school 6 months. original balance, about 13k. amount owed according to them at the time of inquiry. 30k
but if i hadnt had an attorney step in, my credit would have suffered, and they'd be taking 15% of my income and pushing massive interest for years. not to mention they cut it back to the amount i owed on the day ncsu put me out, instead of the 120% worth of penalties they tacked on while i unknowingly waited for the court thing to play out
i really hate it for those poor bastards who owe the government a mortgage. they'll never see a full paycheck or a tax refund again.] 10/9/2008 3:13:07 PM |
