"Its story revolves around the pre-GlaDOS epoch, even before she was plugged in. At this time, test subjects were monitored by real Aperture Science employees, whose work was tedious, lengthy and repetitive. This is why they decided to build a great artificial intelligence that could both replace them in these difficult tasks, and also take responsibility for many other tasks within the complex and compete with Black Mesa's superiority. All employees of the Aperture Science complex are now eagerly awaiting GlaDOS. Maybe even a little too eagerly, as the upcoming events will tell...

This game is totally free and set to be released somewhere around the end of september 2008. It offers a bit more gameplay hours than the original Portal, with 8 chapters, 48 challenges, 6 advanced maps, a brand new storyline and more than 400 lines of speech with english and french subtitles.

Remember kids, it's not just a mappack, it's a whole new story, and I hope that you'll appreciate the work done for you. Thank you for reading, and stay tuned for more informations soon."

Just got done playing. The puzzles are a lot trickier than Valve's and require more timing and precision. Sometimes it's just repeating a jump until you hit the exact millimeter needed to fly far. Great mod, took about 4 hours, worth 775mb.

Which is the exact opposite of fun. I'm sure I'll try it again, but I got about 15 minutes in and quit in frustration. How is something entertaining if you figured out the puzzle aspect but you have to make 25 attempts to get something just right. I loved the original. This versions sucks ass.

^It's lack of technical skill.

I'm guessing this is just an expansion, and you have to have the original game?

I thought this was a full blown sequel. Oh well, will still play the bahevious out of it.

Maybe this will give valve some good ideas.

"In June 2008, I learned as everyone else that Valve was working on an official prequel of Portal. I must say that I was mostly the only guy on Earth not really happy with this announcement. So, I decided to work twice as hard to release my version way before Valve's one. I hope that they will not take it too personnally, because mine was in development 5 months before their first unofficial announcement."

I feel you on that one. I spent 30 minutes last night just trying to get the jump right and hitting quick load over and over again. Only to go on to the next puzzle and finish it in less than 5 mins.

Portal: Still Alive is on Xbox Live

Does anyone have it? Is it any different from the version that comes with the Orange Box?

Is it worth the 1200 points?

all the dialog here seems to have been done with text-to-speech programs, couldn't they have got someone to do a decent job of voice acting it?

played it for about 30 minutes

+1 for the frustrating level of accuracy required. it is not fun to have figured out what you need to do, but have to do it 25 more times because you were falling literally millimeters short of your goal

deleted it, not worth the effort. and they tried to replicate the humor and style of the first, but they fell way short
