don't worry, if Ohio State runs the table and loses to another SEC team in the NC, the dick sucking can continue for the SEC.

Right now you have to like Penn St. to play in the title game as I dont think both texas and alabama both make it the rest of the way without a loss.

is it dick sucking when you prove it year after year?

the ACC hasn't had a team end in the top 5 since FSU was #5 in 2000-2001

I will say that the big 12 plays a more exciting brand of football.

The SEC is fundamentally better football, but can be extremely boring to watch.

Big 12 has more high scoring affairs but i wouldn't call the SEC boring to watch. Defense oriented games are quite the chess match. I'm guessing you fell asleep to that miss st/auburn game

the sec is profoundly over-rated this year

it's funny how some many of the SEC dick-riders are trumpeting defenses to cover up the shitty, shitty offenses 9 of the 12 teams have

i like how sec lovers suck the sec off so hard that when confronted with legitimate arguments as to why they might not be the best, they revert back to "They're the SEC, of course they're dominant."

no you can't get anything through to them

Can't really get mad though, i'd probably be an asshole about it too if the ACC was having a dominant decade.

i love SEC football and they top to bottom have the best athletes in college football. that being said, i often feel that their conference is SLIGHTLY overrated. i can't remember where i read this, but other than bcs games (which obviously are important) the big 10 and sec are about even in bowl game match-ups with regards to wins and losses. and that is the big 10. i know bcs games are more important but still. this is why the sec usually gets so much props, because they always have a couple of national champ. contenders.

this year it would be close but i do give the slight edge to the SEC because of conference depth.

sec football is awesome but i think that sometimes it gets a little too hyped.

^ I agree with most of that. Year in year out there's no question that the SEC is the best conference. This particular year I would say its tied with the Big12, mainly due to Tennessee and Auburn struggling so much. And once again, you cant use bowl win comparisons to determine that... anyone can step up in one game (see Michigan vs. Florida last year), you have to consider the entire season. West Virginia beat a bad Auburn team. Good job. But if they then had to play Florida the next week, then Alabama, then Georgia, then LSU, thats a whole different story than beating Auburn and then going back to smack around Syracuse, UConn, Rutgers etc.

^agree, definitely with the West Virginia bit. but when comparing bowl games it is more than one game. i am talking about the record all time with respect to bowl games btw. sec and big 10.

overall though sec is best conference year in and year out.

just compare the two top to bottom:

SEC - Florida, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Miss. St., Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Auburn

Big XII: Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma St., Kansas, Baylor, Iowa St., Colorado, Kansas St., Missouri, Nebraska, Texas A&M

If I have to choose which conference i play in and have to play those teams give me the Big XII every single year. This year it is closer probably, but every year I want to play those Big XII teams.

hah! you call Michigan beating Florida UM stepping up...I saw it as an exposing of Florida's 2-man offense and bad defense

the SEC is a failure this year compared to the hypehypehype

Bama, Florida, and UGA (somewhat, but whipping a pitiful LSU team doesn't really sell me on them yet)

LSU - terrible defense and almost as bad offense
Kentucky - probably the worst team I've ever seen in person (at the Swamp last weekend)...Navy could have put up a better fight against Florida with it's 3rd string QB than KY did
Vandy - nice story to start, but you just lost to duke...show's over, nothing to see here
Ole Miss - they beat florida (I guess that's where JayBee get's his argument about having to play in the SEC being tough week in and week out), but lost to a Wake team that has fallen miles from where they were the last two years
MSU - offense? what offense?
Auburn - lollable...I love how SEC fanboys pointed to the AU-MSU game as a showcase for the SEC's great defenses
Arkansas - good thing you let your boosters run your program into the ground
South Carolina - dr jeckel and mr spurrier?
Tennessee - only reason they don't get more shit is because Michigan is even worse this year and thus absorbing most of the national ribbing

i mean even Orson over at EDSBS (a bigger SEC homer than JayBee is) admits that the SEC doesn't deserve any S-E-C chants this year

Personally, I think that the SEC should just have a 12 team tournament to decide the NC every year.

It's not fair that other conferences don't have to play SEC teams week after week. This is the only way to find a fair/true champion.

I'm objective.

^ lies. Mississippi State would run the table in any other BCS conference. They only appear to suck because they play SEC teams every week...

WAC football!... its FANtastic!

"pitiful LSU"

oh, didnt realize poor LSU was PITIFUL... oh wait, thats because they are only remotely pitiful when compared to their usual standing and the SEC... put them in the Big10 and they would be undefeated

I am not a homer at all, just realistic. If I was a homer I would claim the SEC was the best bball conference. Its not, but football, yes, it is, not even close. This particular year its down because of Auburn and Tennessee, but still the best from top to bottom, and over the last 20 years its not even close

Other than Arkansas/Texas, the two conferences rarely play each other. Georgia blew out Oklahoma State last year, that's really the only game that comes to mind recently.
The SEC is really top heavy this year. You have 3 really good teams in Bama, UGA, and UF that could beat any team in the country on any given day. I still think LSU is really good. They would take all but about 10 teams to the woodshed. The rest of the conference is average and down. South Carolina isn't awful and Ole Miss has their moments. After that, what do you have?
Vanderbilt and Kentucky started off hot, but they have forgetten how to score. Auburn and Tennessee never really got the ball rolling and both are probably going to miss bowl games unless they pull an upset. Arkansas are Miss St are terrible. The good teams at the top are masking the suckfest towards the bottom. We'll see what happens come bowl season again...last year the SEC went 7-2

you can really only make a conference to conference comparison by watching a SHITLOAD of games in all conferences. You cant go by record against each other, you cant go by bowl games, you cant go by National Champ. games. I think the SEC is better than the Big10, BUT I dont think they are nearly as better as one might think JUST going by the last two National Champ. games (once again, evidence that I am not a homer).

the last 2 national championships are just evidence of how poorly the Big 10 is.

The SEC is that dominant when you look at all of the conferences out there.

SEC has a larger region of great high school football to recruit from and when you have the coaches that they have in the SEC, its all about recruiting.

BIG 12 doesnt compare if you look at coaches

no, please see my previous post about the shitty quality of the SEC...now throw UGA onto the trash pile and you'll see a league that simply does not have anything close to the depth or toughness that is needed to even have a discussion about the SEC being the best conference THIS year

The SEC might not be the best conference this year but the National Title winner will be from the SEC. Defense wins championships and the SEC plays defense where the Big 12 does not. The Big 12 has great QB's and offense's.

first of all, GT is not "my" team. I have season tickets because I love the triple option and think Paul Johnson is a great coach...don't be bitter because NC State passed on him. i will always root for Navy 1st, NCSU 2nd, and GT 3rd. when the pack plays tech I will ALWAYS root for the pack

secondly, who has UGAg beat this year to justify any sort of claim of decency? as it stands right now, they either claim their best win as against South Carolina (who gave that game away) or Vandy (who just lost to Duke)...hardly worthy of any hype, and certainly a far cry from the expectations for them this year. i ABSOLUTELY expect GT to have a shot at beating UGAg this year...GT's defense (especially the DL) is in the Top 15 nationally in total defense and

third, I never said Navy could beat ANYONE in the SEC. I simply said that Navy could have played a better game than Kentucky had against Florida...not a long stretch of the imagination when all you need to meet that expectation is score ONE offensive touchdown

finally, this thread was started to slob up on the SEC's dick...it has been proven by now that the SEC is not nearly as good as everyone thought they were. do I think a SEC team will win the NC? I'm 50/50 on that right now. if it's Florida vs. PSU, then it's more like 75% in favor of Florida
