So I've decided that growing up and having a real, responsible job is the suck. Life was much better when I was a worthless college student waiting tables. I think I actually had MORE money at that point in my life, and maybe half the stress. I also had friends, which is something I dearly miss. No real point to this thread, just missing my old life. well you are still worthless so i guess thats a little consolation
10/14/2008 12:21:30 AM
looks like you signed up for the wrong jobi seriously dont think you could pay me to go back to college. it was fun and all but im so over taking tests and studying. i much prefer to read about topics of interest on my own timei enjoy going to work and contributing. i also have more money than in college so that helps too
10/14/2008 12:22:16 AM
i'd think real jobs are awesome cause they are better paying?
10/14/2008 12:22:52 AM
Money can't buy happiness, unless you can afford a Waverunner. Then it can. /Daniel Tosh paraphrase
10/14/2008 12:23:09 AM
seriously have you ever seen someone frowning on a waverunner? i dont think its possible![paraphrase]
10/14/2008 12:23:49 AM
OP: What are your interests and what is your job?
10/14/2008 12:24:50 AM
Yes, me. Waverunners suck. Give me a dingy to race, please.
10/14/2008 12:26:44 AM
That's probably because you were on a Waverunner instead of a Sea Doo.
10/14/2008 12:29:05 AM
Ah yes. Sea Doo is definitely ftw.
10/14/2008 12:30:30 AM
I wouldn't mind a Sea Doo jet boat either. That would make a pretty sweet commuter boat. You could load up your gear, anchor it in like 2 feet of water, and party on an island for a few days before surrendering to the fact that your old age requires rest between party sessions.[Edited on October 14, 2008 at 12:33 AM. I mean really, what's the damn point? We're all working our asses of for a few pennies while the economy tanks. We're being raped of our wages by social security which won't even exist when we retire (which we prolly won't even be able to do that at this point.) Do I really want to spend the next 50 years working for absolutely nothing? Not really. Can't think of a better reason to eat the business end of a revolver than all this crap. I gotta get some sleep. Fuck it.

the next big government bailout will be student loans...default....default....default....
10/14/2008 12:36:19 AM
I think the point might be that you have to start somewhere and it's better than waiting tables. I mean, if you think you'll still be doing this when you're like 50 years old then you might have a point. If not, then suck it up and invest in this shitty economy of ours. You'll thank me when it gets better.[Edited on October 14, 2008 at 12:37 AM. Reason : l]

10/14/2008 12:39:37 AM
I've always worked and I've always contributed, jackoff. I'm just saying life seemed so much better back in the days before the "real job". FTR- the gubb'mint has never taken care of me.
10/14/2008 12:41:29 AM
Don't take shit from a glorified office workerWe all know the real contributors are those who create the product, not those who peddle and schmooze

ceilingcat, dont give up. you'll find something you truly enjoythe best part about a job you love is that it provides you the financial ability and freedom to engage in the activities you really enjoy.when you're able to do everything you love, going to work is enjoyableif you really dont like your job, put yourself in a position to move into a job you do enjoy. nothing is more satisfying than enjoying how you spend everyday, in and out of work.good luck, seriously. i was just hating on the free loaders of the world

how did you have more money while being a waiter in college? what is your current job? what was your major? did you move to take the job?maybe instead of being a waiter you should have gotten some relevant experience?
10/14/2008 9:49:04 AM
i want a sweet desk job with little real responsibility or accountabilitydoes that make me a bad person?

mehI love my real job. Plenty of $$ for now, and later (I get to save a lot). Def. the most money i've ever made. The company takes really good care of us employees. I also get to contribute to society, and my country, along with tons of volunteer activities. On top of all of that, my company is extremely prominent in my community and surrounding areas...so I'm granted a good deal of respect and authority outside of work.[Edited on October 14, 2008 at 10:02 AM. You could always get a job that you enjoy, or do something like run your own business where you can set hours.

I'm not saying that I litterally had more money waiting tables; I just had more disposable income. I make decent money but the bills keep getting bigger and the paychecks stay the same. It sucks. Guess I shouldn't look at the finances while tired/depressed/having a drink. Ugh. RD-Go watch the Disney channel and continue pining after a pre-pubescent girl. Or die. You pick.
10/14/2008 10:18:53 AM
