I am gonna have to get Tony Soprano on my roommate....

Bought a box of cereal had one bowl out of it, went to have some cereal tonight and there was one bowl left.

Truthfully I don't give a fuck if he was hungry and wanted a bowl, I remember my broke days in college. Completely different though is cashing nearly the whole box. I am nice enough though and will not call him out in front of his girl.

^^^^ you can call someone out on eating your food in a humorous way that gets the point across, that doesn't make you seem like a jerk.

I say call him out in front of his girl.

snazzles its politics. If my roommate called me out if i had a girl over for something stupid like "yo why did u not turn the lights off" or "why'd you drink my last beer" i would be fucking pissed and get defensive.

tomorrow morning though if i'm like "damn yo dude how you going to be eating my cereal like that" it would be more productive.
We share food a lot but since he's here at the place more sometimes he just goes through my shit faster than i eat his.

So you eat each other's food but you think the rate at which he eats yours is greater?

You're a douche bag and you sound like a shitty roomate

i really dont understand the big deal of the girl being there and i dont really get why you'd supposedly get so defensive about it if roles were reversed and he asked you about it. i mean..it just sounds immature+some kind of insecurity to me. it's not a big deal to tell somebody not to eat your food.

When I had roomies in college the rule was "Don't open it and don't finish it." It sounds like your roomie was just taking advantage of the rule.

I don't care if my roommate snags some food every now and then but if i wake up in the morning and there is no milk or OJ (something of that nature) it would be time to raise hell not matter who was over.

The only thing I share with my roommate is condiments. Otherwise I leave his shit alone and he leaves mine alone. I like the idea of being certain how much food I have.

Be a man and tell him it isn't cool. Tell him that you are either taking something in the pantry/fridge of his of equalish value, or that he is to buy you a new box.

Last year my suitemates thought my fridge was a public area. Gave them a single soda every once in a while and they thought they could snack on whatever the fuck they wanted.

This year (different roommate, different suite), we actually know whose shit is whose and don't fuck with it without asking.

I called him out; and he apologized saying he would take care of it. If there is not a new box there by end week I may get drunk and 'accidently' eat his frozen pizza or drink his 12 pack.

hah. my old roommate used to do this shit a lot.

i usually only cook on Sundays, so I'd grill all day and have 3-4 steaks and 3-4 chicken breasts ready for the rest of the week's lunch and dinner. I'd have a pile of meat on the plate letting it cool before I refrigerate it, and he'd come out of his room and say "yo, can I snag one of these steaks dude?" I'm a nice guy so I said fine, but it drove me nuts because for the following day and that week the stuff slowly disappeared. He took it to mean that "sure man help yourself" was a free pass to go nuts, so by Tuesday there was nothing left.

The next week I bought my usual, but threw a chuck steak on top, cooked it past well done, and put it right there on top for him. That thing was practically rubber... so he took it, cut a couple bites, and never touched my food again. I took the unused portion, shredded it in the food processor, and made taco meat out of it (which was the plan all along).

So yeah, passive aggressiveness ftw.

New roommate is much better, although i once bought a dozen eggs, and when i came back from class a day later, there were 6 gone. He ate a 6 egg omelette. I wasn't even mad. I was just amazed.

ahhhh omg...so being the more kitchen oriented person living here...i typically make tea every week....i don't mind sharing...but when i come home at 7pm and the tea was made at 1pm and is now 3/4 gone...i get a little upset...

the fat roommate likes to have about a 2 liter's worth of that "SCHWEET TAY" with his dinner...and one day im going to shove the pitcher somewhere...

maybe if he would drink water he'd lose 20 lbs...

I use to play the "oh...you're gonna eat my shit?? then i'm gonna eat your shit!!" game with my roommates.

But then I ran into the pot-head roommate who never bought any food for me to eat "in vengeance." Then I had to put the foot down and call him out. It wasn't pretty, because he was fucked up at the time. But needless to say he didn't touch my food again.

I've trained my roomie to ask me if she wants to use my condiments. She's too cheap to buy her own. I typically say, "Nah, not today, maybe tomorrow."

I'm such a B.A.

I should just live by myself.

Just marry him, that's how I got my husband to stop eating my food...
I only buy organic, and suddenly, now that we're married he doesn't have to pretend to enjoy it.

your roommate eating your food is just a sign of him showing dominance. your getting bitched basically, but its instinctful. some of us are hunters and some of us are the hunted, B.

if you thinking a roommate eating someone else's food is a sign of dominance, then you've never lived with stoners. A sign of laziness and selfishness, maybe.

what the fuck

a whole ball of fresh mozzarella with maybe 2 or 3 1/4" slices taken out of it and not resealed, not put in a ziploc... just left open and now completely dried the fuck out.

just wait til he gets home from work.
