Specifically bags for Macs

I have found this product line to be the best by FAR, and superior to any that Ive ever used.

http://www.axio-usa.com/softpacks.html

I have the hybrid for my 15 in macbook pro.

Pelican cases are awesome ... weighty, but nearly indestructible and watertight

Agree 100%. I bought one of the Ibex bags about 2 years ago, and you'd think it was still brand new. I have to carry around a TON of stuff in it, too. My wife liked it so much, she got one too.

lol wut?

This line of thought is why Mac accessories are so outrageously priced.

Get one of those new FAA approved bags so you don't have to fish your laptop out of your bag when you fly.

I have nothing against swiss army but they arent my first thought when I think of laptop bags. Pocket knives and watches maybe, bags no.

Ive had the Axio hybrid softpack for 4 years and the bg itself has never lost its form at all. Its is a phenomenal bag and I would recommend those bags to anyone over any other product Ive seen.

I am going to take a look at the Pelican gear, but Im still hands down for Axio.

the swiss army bag is nice.

has a padded cutout for your spine and pads for everything else.

i've got a timbuk2 bag for mine. it's works and is pretty much waterproof, so i'm satisfied.

I spoke to the owner over the phone and he said he is having inventory problems at the moment. He's just switched designs and some of the ways the bags are constructed so that might be why.

Just FYI the pouch on mine at the top of the bag that holds your ipod, etc which is supposed to go behind the laptop sleeve, Ive recently been putting in front of the laptop sleeve. This has created tension on the zipper (although strong and waterproof) and caused the teeth to separate. I am one of those guys who carries his laptop and all his boks for the day with him to class. I easily have a 40-50 pound bookbag give or take. In trying to fix it the teeth, they separated from the lining of the bag itself and dont ya know Im out of a bag . Although at this point it doesnt matter because my the 2 herniated discs in my back.

I emailed the guy about it, he asked me to call him, we spoke, and even though there is only a 1 year warranty on the products he offered to start an RMA process on the bag and offer me the new one (the old one was out of stock and no longer made) at a 50% discount.

THATS CUSTOMER SERVICE and THATS what Ill continue to support that company and his products. It kind of helped that I used to work for Apple where I bought the bag, and I told him I would do my best to get the Cisco Store to buy some of these bags, slap our logo on them, and sell them. I think these bags are by far the most durable, fashionable, and a wide enough variety to support any role of engineer at Cisco.

I truly believe in this product.

Dude holy shit!

I woke up this morning to a box outside of my door and it was a brand new bad from Axio. The owner said he could work out a 50% discount on a new one for me and get it to me asap, etc. Dude didnt even charge me, doesnt need the old one back, he just sent me a new bag to replace the old one that was at least 2 years out of warranty.

Daaaaang Im impressed. Its time to give this guy props on my blogs.

I have to admit Oakley makes some really sweet looking bags.

I cant confirm their durability or practicality in the use of actually using it as a laptop bag, but they win the fashion contest hands down.

I needed a new laptop bag and got the Remix:
http://www.axio-usa.com/remix.html

So far I like nearly everything about it. The construction is very good. The metal pieces are thick and well designed. Having a bright color for the liner helps as well to find items and there are lots of different size pockets. The one thing I would have like to have had was handles on the top of the bag. I should have noticed this before I ordered. Handles make it much easier to get your laptop bag out of the car when you are in tight parking spaces.

werd.

my swiss army bag is like brand new and I've had it for like 5 years. Comfortable as hell to wear because of the special back padding and the shoulder straps have a little bit of elastic at the top to act as shock absorbers when you're walking.

i'm in the market for a sleeve for easy carrying

i was looking at these 2:
http://www.booqbags.com/Compact-Cases-Laptop-Sleeves/Taipan-skin-M-black
OR
http://www.booqbags.com/Compact-Cases-Laptop-Sleeves/Vyper-M3

but i can't decide - anyone have one or the other?

and what the hell do people do with their power cords when they put their laptops in a sleeve?

i have a plain black neoprene sleeve (incase) for my macbook pro, but it's really just for protecting against scratches and stuff -- i throw it another bag/backpack to haul around so i can carry my power cord in there if needed

i have a big ass brief case thing from them that has a section for a laptop. that thing is awesome. it's basically as big as you're going to fit in the overhead on a plane and is big enough to handle all the paperwork you can imagine, laptop and a change of clothes/toiletries so you don't have to check any luggage for single night trips.

pretty damn nice.. i've had it for a year, probably 30 flights or so so far and it's held up great

I have the Wenger bag pictured above, and I keep it loaded up with tons of stuff for work and carry it every day. It probably carries 40 pounds on average, and it's holding up well.
