I really would like this game, but its just too many good games coming out at one time, so I decided to not include this in my gaming agenda. Maybe next year I'll pick this up, but for now, I just Finished Homecoming, Dead Space, and about to get Fallout 3 and Call of Duty 5, so I'll be busy with those two right through the holiday season. Also, I have Woods 09 as an in-between game when I get tired of shooting shit for a little while. I have followed this game in its development, and this will def be a good game, I predict 9/10 review average score.

Was never a huge fan of the first one, but it looks fun.

I'm really enjoying it. It's a little annoying because you have to drive everywhere but it's a big world and the brush fires are awesome. The day/night cycles are really cool too. The sun rise over the plains looked pretty neat.

The game is a lot of fun in general. It seems like it's missing something, but maybe that's just me. I might just be used to FarCry's lush tropical look. The engine they used on this game is called Daria or something like that. NOT the same engine as Crysis and only uses bit of the original CryEngine.

Uses some very cool innovative ideas (factions, weather, propagating fire, etc). I've used the fire thing a few times already, pissed off a couple of factions. As far as the weather, I haven't really seen a storm or anything yet.

I will say the game can be VERY enjoyable. Just remember to hit F5 (Quick Save) a LOT if you don't want to keep running the same long route to your objective over and over.

im interested in the multiplayer. I played Far Cry mp for years and it was the ultimate in simple attack/defend gameplay. How is it for FC2?

I tried Crysis, and while the single player was cool, the multiplayer sucked balls.

I only got a couple of chances to play FC multiplayer. Crysis was fun for LAN parties with about 10 people. Nothing better than cloak snipers. I'll try to get into some FC2 mp when I can LAN next.

holy shit...picked this game up on the way home from work...One of the best FPS i've played in a long long time! All round this game kicks ass. I almost killed myself because I fired a rocket from a rocket launcher while hiding in tall grass and the grass behind me caught on fire. haha...didn't even realize why or how i caught on fire until i turned around. I've also fired a dud RPG that fell infront of me spinning like mad while the fuse was ticking. another example of badass creativity. don't see that much in FPS'

Far Cry 1 was awesome. Was revolutionary for it's outdoor scenes. FC2 does an amazing job of it too. Only complaint is all the traveling, and i'm hoping the missions get more related to a central theme. I liked the whole mutant theme of the first one.

no idea never played farcry 1. But its hard as fuck. especially when you turn off your crosshairs.

Multiplayer is a riot! I love shooting ammo boxes when someone is trying to get more ammo and it blows up in their face and then all the rounds and rockets shoot off in a million different directions haha.

There is also a mp map that has hand gliders on the cliffs that you can use to fly around the map until of course you lose altitude, someone shoots you or someone sets your hand glider wings on fire or full of holes. then you die fast

umm what? There is a story mode which is single player and then there is MP. and MP has many different game types.

^^^fc2 is class-based, so you don't go out and pick up weapons. you earn blood diamonds from exp and completing objectives to be used for upgrades to your class.

that IS the game. And i don't see how you can drive anywhere. I'm walking everywhere so i don't die. I think its perfect and realistic. You are in an extremely hostile african 'zone' so it makes sense that you aren't really safe anywhere

I'm able to move around quite quickly....once i've 'scouted' an area i don't bother with it again unless I need the ammo/explosives/first aid. you can pretty much sneak past any outpost.

I'll offer a dissenting opinion...

I haven't got that far in, but so far factions appear to be worthless. Even the guys driving the Datsuns around will stop off to take a few shots at you. See someone? They're hostile. So what's the point of factions if everyone on the map is in the same faction... the one that wants to shoot you dead. Maybe it becomes a factor later?

So far it's drive a car, arrive at a crossroads, shoot the three dudes that were guarding it, continue driving, get 100 yards away from the crossroads and be forced to stop again because a vehicle has now shown up, shoot the two guys in it, maybe get out and tighten the radiator if the enemy's bullets loosened a bolt or two, and continue on to your quest which always shows up on the opposite side of the map from where the quest was given. Oh, and maybe stop off to do a little geocaching along the way.

Crysis should have been called Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 2 should have been called Everyone Hates You African Safari. Not sure how this one fits into the Far Cry universe. I guess they figured they'd sell more units if they attached the Far Cry name to the product.

The previews I read on IGN long ago promised something much better than this. Not sure how anyone can say this is anything more than an average/slightly above average FPS. It's not terrible, but it isn't awesome or innovative either.

EDIT. And having to pop a malaria pill every 20 minutes of gameplay and then having to do quests to get more pills is another nice addition. Maybe someone will come out with a malaria mod and take away that annoying aspect of the game.
