If I didn't have a period for 8 months I would be asking questions. I didn't have a period for 3 months and I was freaking out.

I watched a show about this last week. It featured four different women. One of them gave birth and didn't even know she had done so until a little while later. The rest went into labor and then started freaking out. One of them had hers in the toilet too!

^ Lots of women don't have periods or get them sporadically.

I had a person in my family that thought she had a hernia coupled with large ovarian tumors, but she had a baby inside of her instead. She did not know before the 3rd trimester thought. So this can happen.

^^ Its not the fact that they are fat, its the fact that if you have no idea that you are preggers, you will think something else is ailing you. HOWEVER no period should tell you something, but women can have illnesses that cause irregular periods.

I have a friend that was 7 MONTHS pregnant before she found out she was pregnant. She went to the doctor with "muscle spasms" and found out that the baby was kicking.

It was hard to believe then. And after I had a baby, I absolutely could not believe that she didn't realize she was pregnant.

Why?

He's suing on behalf of the kid, not the mom.

The mom's not going to get a cent.

It's clear this coke user doesn't have the means to care for the kid, and I doubt she has any type of insurance, or even a decent job. Should the baby die or suffer because of this? Should she have just aborted the baby? What would Palin say?

Assuming though there's no ground to declare her unfit to parent, and thus remove the child from her, the best solution to this problem is for the kid to get medical care somehow. Either from a charitable organization, the hospital, or the government.

It's obvious this suit is more about getting $$$ for the kid, than to "punish" the wrong-doing of the hospital (I don't think they really did anything wrong), but it's the only way it can be unless she moves to Canada or something.

I think it's pretty clear she's unfit to parent and as such should either be made a ward of the state or turned over to the care of a family member who will assume the healthcare expenses. It certainly sounds like the hospital did nothing wrong. Suits like this only serve to drive up the cost of healthcare for everyone because the hospital will either:

a) spend unneeded money to defend itself and win
b) settle out of court if the amount to settle is less than the amount to defend
c) lose and pay an absurd sum because a jury feels bad for the kid

Hell, even if you are like I was and lost body fat that was replaced with baby, you should still be able to tell that you are pregnant. For so many reasons. I can tell you for a fact that belly fat is squishy, but babies are hard as a freakin' rock.
