where can I find more info on the local positions up for election? it seems that the presidential race has really over shadowed local politics.

This wont be helpful once you get too local, but it does have some info on the statewide races. One thing I like about orange county dems is that they don't just tell you who to vote for, they give you some real info about the people running which can be especially helpful with judges.

^does that guide even have any info on republican candidates in the partisan races?

when does N&O publish the voters' guide, or has it already done so? i'm not really concerned with party affiliation when you get to the local and state level

My dad was complaining about how the local media has been so overwhelmed with the national races this year that he has almost no idea about where each of the gubernatorial candidates stand. That, or perhaps the field this year is so lackluster that both candidates are forgettable.

This surprised me given that in the past four or five gubernatorial races, he always had a good idea of whom he was going to vote for (or more appropriately in some years, not vote for). This year, he has no clue. To sum up his thoughts, "Who the heck are these people running for governor this year?"

^^You're asking if the democratic guide gives info on republican candidates? I'm not going to give you the answer, but there are two ways of finding out.

2. Make the obvious inference about whether or not republicans would have submitted their information to a county branch of the democratic party

In that case I'm Bojangles biscuits & sweet tea atm.... anyways sorry if I came across poorly, I have been a little on edge today. My cat nearly died and its going to be around $1000 and a week of veterinary care to make him better, so yeah that's all I've got.
