- I once thought I lost my Zune at my gym (it was in my pocket). I ultimately ended up having to describe it as "well, it's like an iPod, but different looking...". She had never heard of the Zune.
- I use it in my car sometimes, and almost always lock it up. Every time I lock it up, I think to myself that if I had left it on the seat, thieves would get excited at first, then realize it's a Zune, and move on.

That being said, I love my $85 refurbished Zune. Firmware upgrades rule...

I just got a Zune as a gift from my girlfriend a couple weeks ago. I love it so far. The software is great and easy to use. The fact that it picks up FM radio is awesome too.

Where did you get the accessory that allows you to hook it up to your car? Does it plug into the cigarette lighter or is it an FM transmitter type?

Tape adapter (99 Camry that doesn't have a CD player). Runs on Zune battery. Living in Chicago I never really go far.

I got mine about a year ago from Woot for $85 incl. shipping. It was a refurbed 1st model, 30 gigs. MSoft lets you use ALL firmware upgrades on ALL Zunes, so all the cool new shit you get on your old Zune. It's pretty cool and definitely smart in retaining us.

Also yes they play videos. Sync wirelessly to daily video podcasts!

never had an iPod. Don't want one. Don't even have a portable music player right now, it kind of sucks.

I really want a sirius radio stilleto.

Maybe I'll get that new google phone and just put a bigger SD card into it with mucho music and use that.

^I'm not much into the portable music scene either. Honestly I prefer just the radio. I use a SanDisk 2GB player, listen to radio 90% of the time, use MP3's when I can't get signal (such as the gym.)

the latest generation of Zune (which is the 2nd generation), is actually a really nice device.

The button is a touch-sensitive area, unlike the first one, and it's very responsive to scrolling. It also has a pretty clean, well thought-out UI.

I like my Zune, but something has screwed up my Zune software to where immediately after opening it I get an error box that tells me it has to close.

I can actually ignore the box and keep playing the music, but it won't let me sync my zune to get any new content on it.

Uninstalling and reinstalling hasn't helped.

got myself a zune80 last xmas and love it. i've also turned a few of my friends onto zune, enough that they'd strongly consider one if it came to replacing their ipods.

the player/firmware does everything the ipod does and more, and i think the software is great. so for the same price it seems like a simple decision to me.

what is all this stuff about the iPod touch being superior? The iPod classic is pretty terrible and it's interface is at least 10x better than that of the touch. We use one for background music and it's a )#$(*% to find that one song you're looking for as 500 songs zip by when you're only trying to get to the next page. And the 'swipe' interface is complete crap if I'm in a hurry.

but i really hated carrying around something so big...so i picked up a sansa e280 (the rockbox-able version) from woot for $45, sold the zune for $125, and picked up an 8gb microSDHC card for $30

Are you saying the iPod Touch is a clone of a Dell Axim? That's laughably naive. The devices are aimed at different markets, but the iPOd touch is a better device.

And the Dell Axim is a clone of Palm OS which is a clone of Newton OS (note: term "clone" being used loosely). Apple practically invented the PDA market.
