2.Check the physical connections of the cables at the modem.

lol. TWC. I fucking hate them. I went through months of that shit with them.

I finally got put on the "irate customers" list so I got handed off to a higher level and they quit sending their cable checker "technicians" out and started sending level II techs that actually check shit out. I'm pretty sure they're got a good file on me so far

Yea when I had TWC in Raleigh, it would randomly cut out for about an hour at a time, usually during the day and usually when I was trying to do something on webct/vista. This kept occuring over a couple months but I always had the outlook that it wasn't the person on the phone's fault so I always made nice no matter how angry I was. My wife called once (she doesn't have that attitude or atleast didn't this time) and they sent somebody out and it got fixed. I think they like getting yelled at.

enough calls + agitated tone of voice + telling them no to all of their suggestions + a few choice words + asking to speak to managers + threatening to end service + threatening to not pay the bill + asking for discounts due to lack of service + telling them what they are going to do = irate customer's list

and

irate customer's list = tech manager + tech specialist + showing up ON TIME + not leaving until the problem is diagnosed + problem being fixed

do you frequently lose service/have service degradations?

If yes to either, keep the appt, get the cable checker techie to come and tell you what you already know (the problem is not inside your place or your equipment). Make sure he logs that, and tell him (if he doesn't suggest it, which he may not, if your service is fine at the moment) that you want the next level tech's to come out and look at the boxes/lines for your grid.
