seriously. Underage drinking is different. Chicks don't get date raped after passing out from cigs, its not like smoking and driving causes accidents (at least not from the tobacco maybe dumbasses can't drive with one hand) and most importantly thats all i have to say about that matter.

funny thing was is that the person that got the ticket was younger than the person that was receiving the cig....something about it being illegal to provide tobacco to someone under the age of 18....but not illegal to possess tobacco above the age of 16

I was told that ciggarettes can be smoked at any age. It's illegal to give them to someone underage though. In north Carolina there isno such thing as an underage smoker.

if i repeat something that's already been said, sorry - but i actually have a true story about this.

i went to the beach with a friend of mine in middle school, we went with her parents. we were about 13yo or 14yo, and we walked up to the pier one night and she bummed a cigarette off of some dirty fisherman. when we were leaving she decided to smoke it, and a cop actually stopped us as we were leaving the pier and told her it was illegal to smoke under 16yo and that he didn't think she was 16yo. so she could either keep smoking and he could take us home to ask her parents how old she was, or she could quit smoking right now and never smoke again because it is really bad for you. true story!

^^^ is correct. The law only deals with the sale of tobacco, not it's consumption.
