It's a slow morning and I'm bored.

Who is the most "cursed" fan on here. Not solely when it comes to your teams, but also with your teams rivals.

I'll post my resume.

New York Mets - I follow this team closest and most passionately of any team in any sport. I have never seen and remembered them winning a championship in my lifetime. Their closest rivals are the Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees. It goes without saying the Yankees are the greatest franchise in American sports history. The Braves won 14 or 15 division titles in a row. Now, as an extra punch in the balls, the one sports franchise with a sadder history than the Mets and the one franchise that gets my blood boiling more than any other, the Phillies are about to win a championship.

New York Jets - Not only have they never won a title in my lifetime, they haven't even really come close. The closest I can remember is against Pittsburgh when they missed TWO FGs to win. Their biggest rival is the closest thing I can think of to a NFL dynasty we have seen recently, the Patriots. Their local rival, whom they share a stadium with, is the defending Super Bowl champion and just happens to be the best team in football again.

New York Knicks - Isiah Thomas. Enough said. This alone should trump most peoples sob stories.

New York Rangers - The only pro team I've ever seen win a championship that I remember. They did it in '94. It was fun. The Devils have won three since then. Fuck you Marty.

NC State Wolfpack - Need I go there? Not only are we historically bad in the two major revenue sports (I can't find many times when one school held down last place in MBB and CFB at the same time, which is what we're doing right now), but our closest rival is #1 preseason in bball and enjoying their finest season in a decade in football. Joy.

-------------

My one saving grace is that my family all went to UConn and I grew up a fan in CT. They have won a few games in basketball.

Oakland Raiders - Eric Turner dies of stomach cancer; Napoleon Kaufman retires in his prime to become a minister; the tuck rule; Barrett Robbins suddenly becomes bipolar the night before Superbowl XXXVII; they suck.

No way are you more cursed than I am. Here's who I like:

UNC basketball (haven't won a title in a couple years)
NY Yankees (didn't make the playoffs)
Notre Dame (they suck now)
NE Patriots (Brady is hurt)
Earnhardt Jr. (hasn't won a title yet)
LA Lakers (No titles since Shaq left)

My one saving grace is my family has no ties to any of these teams so when they suck, I just find other ones.

Chicago Cubs - Need I really say more about this subject.

Charlotte Hornets/Charlotte Bobcats - Since I don't really follow basketball that much I pull for the 'home state' team. This causes a bit of heartache in that the Hornets are now pretty good, but I like the Bobcats.

NC State Wolfpack - Same as your reasoning.

My saving grace:

Hurricanes - No real fan support but they have won the trophy recently before choking the playoffs away last year.

Panthers - Been through some mighty struggles, but they have been to the playoffs a few years and have come close to winning a championship. Can't really complain, especially since they are 6-2 this year.

I was cursed as shit for a long time, but been a good 10 years or so

Braves - horrible for a long time, good for a long time, suck again
Red Sox - blah for a long time, really good now, but not as interesting now that they've won and there are soooo many bandwagon fans
Cowboys - meh
Volunteer Football - great for about a decade, now shit, Fire Fulmer
Volunteer BBall - shitty for a long long time, but fucking great right now, doesnt get better

haha...looks like I win this thread

Seattle Seahawks - been around since 1976 and are 0 for 2 in NFL championships.

Seattle Mariners - first season was in 1977 and they didn't make their first playoff appearance until 1995. They didn't even have a winning season until 1990 and they've never been to the World Series. They had a major league record 116 wins in 2001 but lost to the Yankees in the ALCS.

Seattle Supersonics (now Oklahoma Thunder) - only men's professional sports team to ever win a championship (one championship in 1979) and they move to Oklahoma . I'm now without a favorite basketball team until Seattle gets another.

NC State Wolfpack - enough said

Luckily Seattle doesn't have a professional hockey team. I'm a Red Wings fan so I probably don't win the title of "most cursed fan on TWW" outright (my whole family is from around Detriot).

Chicago Cubs
NC State Wolfpack
Carolina Panthers
Chicago Blackhawks* (2nd fav NHL team, behind the Hurricanes)
Anti-UNC

At least I have the Carolina Hurricanes and had the Chicago Bulls beginning to win when I was little and actually lived in Chicago, though now the NBA sucks. Bears won just after I was born, and been decent the past few years...

Oakland Raiders- NFL record for a superbowl hangover. Nearing a decade of futility
Jacksonville Jaguars- I follow this team bc David Garrard like u follow Chargers/Rivers. They're sucking right now
Duke Basketball- No big men = No national title
Duke football- doing ok actually
ECU football- injuries, suspensions, losing to shittier teams than ours etc. We can beat ranked teams but not against ones w/ losing records? Can't win a ridiculously shitty CUSA.

While a lot of you people are posting about teams worse than the OP, you're not mentioning your teams rivals having crazy good success (with the exception of all of us with the NCSU/UNC thing. Since all of us feel that way though, it cancels out).

NyM410 is still winning this "cursed" status....however he is an admitted Boston Red Sox fan, so I'm having second thoughts about that.

NC State - easy even though baseball there kicks ass
Tulane University - even easier though baseball there kicks ass
New Orleans Saints - yeah, well...
UCLA - I'm between a decade and a generation too late here
LA Dodgers - a fan since 2003 when my then-girlfriend and I "exchanged" favorite teams; she adopted the Saints, I took up interest in the Dodgers. We've finished 1st, 4th, 2nd, 4th, and 1st in the seasons since then

Saving grace is the Hornets, but I attended 16 games in that 18-64 season. Haven't been to 16 total since then.

NC State Athletics - 'nuff said

Baltimore Orioles - good core of youngsters but still a cellar dweller in the hardest division in Baseball, with arguably the worst owner in all of sports. Say what you want about Dan Snyder, Peter Angelos is worse. At least Danny Boy will open his checkbook on occasion. I don't expect them to compete until 2012 at the closest, and even then, I'm skeptical. Jeffrey Maier can go to hell.

Carolina Hurricanes - Nothing bad to say here.

Washington Redskins - Ugh. Frustration from end to end, top to bottom. We ran off Gregg Williams, and now are pretty much cursed for the foreseeable future. Blow up the team.

San Diego SuperChargers - Mainly because of Phil. Norv Turner is the worse coach in the history of the NFL. Why they hired him and fired Marty, I'll never understand.

Indianapolis Colts - Parents were Baltimore Colts fans. After the midnight move to Indy, they stopped watching the NFL altogether for ~10 years. Finally got back into them in the Jim Harbaugh days. No curse here. It's nice to love a great team.

NC State fan since my freshman year in 1996 - my time as a State student included zero NCAA tournament appearances, and a single bowl appearance in which we got our asses whooped by Edgerrin James. I'm pretty sure 1996-2000 was as garbage a 4-year span for NC State football/basketball as there has ever been (Torry Holt and CC Harrison not included).

New Orleans Saints (finally looking good for a bit, but not getting my hopes up just yet)

Atlanta Hawks (recent draft history is just plain depressing)

Atlanta Braves (made playoffs 15 straight years - as soon as I moved to Atlanta in summer of 2006, the streak ended)

Oh, and I played basketball at the NC School of Science and Math - our mascot was the freaking Unicorns. UNI PRIDE.

I know I am not the most cursed fan on here, but right now I do not even feel like turning on ESPN ever:

1. State football = terrible
2. State basketball = going to be terrible
3. Braves choked away playoff chances during last week of season.
4. Chargers not playing well
5. Damn Yankees are headed for another WS Title
6. Damn Gators are headed for another National Title
7. Georgia sucks this year in football.

Oh well at least UNC looks to be sucky in fb this year thankfully.
