rock the vote

early voting is nice b/c if one place is super crowded, you don't have to vote there, you can find a less crowded location ftw

Sorry, McCain fucked it away. I was all about McCain 1.0, but not this new version...and it's not like I'm going to vote for Obama.

I thought about Bob Barr, or writing in Ron Paul, but they're both just way too extreme, and I'm almost as tired of enabling crazy libertarian/Libertarian behavior as I am of enabling liberal/neocon/big gov't Republican behavior. In addition, while I like Ron Paul, Barr just strikes me as a douchebag.

[Edited on October 29, 2008 at 7:04 PM. Reason : I might write in Ron Paul, but I'm leaning towards "No confidence."]

[Edited on October 29, 2008 at 7:05 PM. Reason : which is a fucking shame, as I've waited all this time hoping for a chance to vote McCain. ]

'Hate' may be a strong word. Nevertheless:

Those voting for Obama are generally doing so because they like Obama.
Those voting for McCain are generally doing so because they don't like Obama.

A similar situation to four years ago.

It's so awesome to be taking part in such a significant event in American history.

Some of ya'll are going to be the guy who voted for the loser in 1932, or 1960, or 1860. Sucks to be you guys.

Relating to this pic posted previously, I think a great halloween costume would be to wear a superman costume with the Obama logo in place of the "S", and of course wear an Obama mask. I think it has bi-partisan appeal.

started filling out my absentee ballot last night...

President: No confidence.

Congressman: Jeff Miller (R)

Public Defender: James Owens (R)...both he and his (D) opponent both receive a lot of positive press, but and while they both seem like good dudes with solid resumes, I couldn't find any actual positions taken by the (D), Tony Henderson (other than that he would generally do things about like his opponent), so Owens got my vote by default. Oh well, whatever...it's a race for Public Defender. On a side note, these two guys have apparently been personal friends for 35-40 years (since highschool), and are actually complimentary of each other.

Currently researching the state representative race between Clay Ford (R) and Lumon May (D). They both look good in terms of biography and resumes. Ford wouldn't be terrible, but he's too socially conservative for my tastes, and not quite fiscally conservative enough. I can't seem to find any actual stances on issues from Lumon May. He is a member of some sort of Taxation Watchdog group, but I can't find out much about him, other than he's a cheerleader for Obama. This one is shaping up to be an "abstain".

________________________

Abstained on Ford/May.

Voted for the (R), David Morgan, for Escambia Sheriff. I was just about to vote for his (D) challenger, Scapecchi, as he seemed to place a higher priority on fiscal restraint, responsibility, and efficiency, and in 98% of cases, that would win me over, but Morgan is a big proponent of increased education for cops. Paying cops more to further their educations, etc. This is something I've long been a proponent of--we don't need more police...we need BETTER police (along with better tasking).

Abstained on School Superintendent (Thomas/Brown-Curry)
