i wish they'd stop their advertising campaign. even if it's true, i hate it when a company spends every single ad dollar on bashing the competition. and people wonder why mac users are generalized as snobs.
having said that, i'm with Stein. but they have no reason to do so. 10/28/2008 10:31:22 PM |

- iPhone on Verizon
- lower price on newly released 24" LCD
- wireless syncing and charging for all peripherals (mice, keyboard) and accessories (ipods, iphones)
- "netbook" or "itablet" or whatever you want to call it. i.e. a touchscreen device somewhere between an iPhone and a MacBook
- API for FrontRow
- some kind of docking station, "mac style" of course, for Macbooks and MBPs. Since none of the laptops don't, and probably never will, have a docking port, something like the new LCD with the built-in power, sounds, USB and video cables might be the closest we'll ever get to a dock
- include all the video cable adapters and ipod/iphone cables and docking stations with their products instead of charging extra
- start pushing the next generation wireless standards, WiMax or 3G or whatever, by including antenna in all laptops
- add Blu Ray drives as standard to all laptops 10/28/2008 10:44:13 PM |

try ALL their LCD's, they are the best, but they are not worth 2x the cost of comparables

Practically I think they will need to move in to the enterprise and improve their server software.
As far as consumer goods...
an all in one time capsule/apple tv solution. similar to them combining a phone and the ipod in to the iphone.
meh, I cant really imagine what they would do next other than lower prices, but they still have strong sales so there isnt really a reason to.
Maybe extend their warranties to 4 years instead of 3, or start including mobile me as a default lifetime application with purchase of a new computer?
I dunno, I really dont know...

putting aside everything listed here, I'd like to think that Apple has soemthing else up their sleeve that we completely haven't thought of yet. Not even sure what realm it would be in, but it would be great if at January MacWorld or a WWDC next year they bring out something revolutionary in a whole new market. 10/28/2008 11:43:42 PM |

I dont understand why people like netbooks
- Make mac mini/apple tv into a viable media center (they probably will do this next week, anyway). Aggregate media from dvrs/computer/ipods and make it work nice. It might seem like a crowded area, but I think all the good solutions now require hobbyist-type tinkering and expertise. Bringing these cool hobbyist things to the masses is their forte.

I'm not sure what I would need every video cable adapter for?? They provided the cable I'd most likely need. If I already have DVI what exactly am I going to do with a mini-dvi -> DVI cable? the only cable I might need is vga->dvi
and the point that you missed, as usual, is that every apple product I have purchased in the past has come with whatever cable or dock that pertains to it in the box. Obviously I don't need an iPod dock to come with my macbook pro

Quote : | "Flash has evolved from being a mere animation player into a multimedia platform capable of running applications of its own. That means Flash would open a new door for application developers to get their software onto the iPhone: Just code them in Flash and put them on a web page. In so doing, Flash would divert business from the App Store, as well as enable publishers to distribute music, videos and movies that could compete with the iTunes Store." | ]1/6/2009 1:09:59 PM |

our 2 macbook pros (that are 1.5 years old now) came with the vga/dvi adapters. my brother's regular macbook (2 years old) did not. mine and my parents' imacs didn't come with anything but a power cord and a little remote (1 year old). my ipod (30gb - the first ones w/ video), Fumbler's nano (the short fat kind), and mom's nano (just got it for xmas) all came with dock adapters. of the 3 ipods, only mine came with a wall charger thing.

holy crap, that's unbelievably stupid. well you can use an externam + your internal right?
and i just saw this...but don't know anything about macs so can't judge the validity:
Quote : | "Do you mean two external monitors or the internal monitor and one external?
If you mean the former, you can use two or three VGA monitors (CRTs or LCDs) with the supplied DVI-VGA converter and Matrox's DualHead2Go or TripleHead2Go, respectively. Ditto for the Mac mini.
If you mean the latter, you're good go to with the MacBook Pro; obviously can't do that with a Mac mini." |

yeah, i know i can buy 3rd party hardware to make it happen, but most PC laptops have native support for multiple external monitors. My old T43 Thinkpad and my current T61p both support dual external monitors without the need to buy third party hardware, which is far from an elegant solution. 1/6/2009 1:36:22 PM |
