for a while I had some success by substituting random exercises for a cigarette

e.g. if I wanted a cigarette and felt like I couldn't resist the urge, I'd do 30 crunches

it gives you something of a high and is actually healthy

but then I realized I could work out and smoke afterwards and get extra buzzed

ps. Drinking and being around other smokers seems to be the cause of every smoking relapse I've ever had. If you can make it to 2 weeks and avoid those influences for a couple months I imagine it's probably gravy after that.

I take my first dose of Chantix on Nov. 5. Official quit date is the 12th.

I made sure to tell everyone so if they find me with my wrists slit, they'll know to sue the good people at Pfizer.

Not forever, and it doesn't necessarily make them taste bad.

As long as you take Chantix, they believe it blocks the nicotine from getting to the receptors. For the first week or so, some nicotine gets through, but as the drug builds up in your system, it supposedly blocks out the nicotine so much that you don't enjoy cigarettes as much, and the idea is that that helps you stop. To me, it sounds like a not good thing to wanna smoke and not be able to get the satisfaction out of it, but it's worked for a lot of people so I'm gonna give it a shot.

Of course, it's all up in your brain and shit, and they don't really know exactly what's going on up there. So it makes people screwy.

^^It's a "nicotinic receptor partial agonist." The wiki article says it is similar to but different from bupropion (Wellbutrin, an NDRI).

i've been smoking for a years and i'm still not really addicted. If i forget to buy a pack i can go a few months and forget that i even smoke, then i'll be at a party and somebody will offer me one and i'll just kinda casually start back up again.
