I have a slight pain on the lower right side of my Trapezius. It's been tingling for months and it's not been really painful or anything so I usually ignore it. These past few weeks right after my daily workout the muscles starting to feel torn up. I mean I can tolerate it but it's starting to get on my nerves.
This is a house call for Dr. Wolf from the Laymen unit.

if your feeling tingling, thats never a good sign you might want to not do any more workouts that directly work your traps...or anything that even indirectly work them out....b/c tingling most especially a really hot tingle is very bad for business 10/30/2008 12:35:19 AM |

I had some pain in the past 2 days as if i picked up something really heavy. It was on my lower back spine but it is going away. I didn't even carry anything heavy though, my mom told me it was the weather change how it's getting cold. 10/30/2008 12:42:28 AM |

OPPQRST
-Where does the pain start? -What makes the pain better? -What makes the pain worse? -What sort of pain does it feel like(achey, sharp, etc.)? -Does the pain radiate? -What associated symptoms do you have with the pain?
etc. 10/30/2008 1:02:26 AM |

Not a slipped disc, believe me you'd KNOW if that were the case. Most likely its a slightly pinched disc or nerve.
Unfortunately the only kind of treatment available for that type of thing (short of surgery or absurd changes in exercise regiment) is a chiropractor, and the only way to find a good one (since there's no real regulation) is via word of mouth. Ask around, see who's good in the area . . . . the only time I've tried to find a decent chiropractor in Raleigh I've ended up screaming my lungs out in pain, so I can't really help you there. A good chiropractor should be able to set you strait in a few visits, and you'll feel good as or better than new. 10/30/2008 3:47:09 AM |

dude just see a doctor, you're gonna get 5 different opinions on here, and then those people will just argue about their own life experiences as if they're relevant to you at all.
there are a lot of good orthopaedists in NC.....go with that 10/30/2008 6:37:55 AM |

Are your muscles in spasm? I had a bad trapezius spasm for weeks that pinched down on a nerve and caused tingling and numbness down my arm. I ended up in physical therapy to resolve it. 10/30/2008 7:03:28 AM |

Hmm I don't have any muscle spasms.
I saw a doctor today and she confirmed it was the Trapezius. I was referred to a Physical Therapist.

After taking various medications, having several x-rays and mris I too was referred to a physical therapist for back pain. It's right around the trapezius area as well as lower back. It hasn't been tingling any, more like constant aching for about 8 months. Like you said, I can tolerate it but it is very annoying. I've been to a bunch of specialists and really don't want to have to go through physical therapy. Can anyone recommend a good chiropractor? 10/31/2008 1:03:43 AM |

Are you sure it's not a constant knot (feels tight, inflamed, or mushy)? I know if I don't have my bf regularly work out the knots from my back, and also do yoga regularly to stretch out my spine, I get a huge, puffy, hot, gnarly mass o' something on the trapezius. That shit is annoying, especially when I lift or swim.
I second the massage therapist, and also try adding back-lengthening exercises. I find fluid can accumulate at the mid/lower back if not worked out.
I know a chiropractor in Durham who is a friend of a friend, but I'm sure you don't want to drive that. 10/31/2008 4:43:17 PM |
