Fox Not Renewing King of the Hill

After several previous brushes with cancellation, Fox has opted not to renew veteran animated comedy "King of the Hill" beyond its current 13th season.

In April, Fox picked up 13 more episodes from the 20th Century Fox TV-produced show, which are wrapping production.

A lot has changed since "King of the Hill" premiered in 1997. Its creators Greg Daniels and Mike Judge have moved on to other projects -- Daniels developed and is running NBC's "The Office," and Judge has a new animated series, "The Goode Family," launching on ABC in midseason.

Judge had continued to voice the central character on the series, alongside voiceover cast members Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Brittany Murphy, Tom Petty, Johnny Hardwick and Stephen Root.

"Hill" has been executive produced by Judge, Daniels, John Altschuler, Dave Krinsky, Michael Rotenberg, Howard Klein, Jim Dauterive and Garland Testa.

FOX has actually "canceled" this show before and with the added 13 episodes should be playing well into 2009. But I imagine this is the real end of KotH with two new upcoming animated shows.

this is one of the greatest tv comedies ever. Great characters, great character development, always stayed true to the characters and didn't just randomly have them do stuff for a specific gag (Family Guy). The only other long running shows that had similar character depth were Andy Griffith, Seinfeld and Frasier which I consider the best comedies of all time. They nailed so many personalities that exist in the South and you could count on the characters from show to show.


it blows my mind that so many of you hate it, its so damn good, such good writing, not just random shit like family guy and American dad (are these shows even different?).

yup. I mean, I dont watch it every week as in plan my time around watching this season, but I dont do that for any show except football games... but I love watching random episodes that come out during the day and probably watch 3-4 a week.

Like everyone else, I had no idea this show was still being produced. Haven't watched a new episode in years, but I remember it being very funny. I liked the episode where they all got addicted to cigarettes
