Because that's all the people I think really have an influence on my life day-to-day, the others I can deal with whoever gets elected. That's just my opinion.

^^^I hope other people follow your example. Not in just voting for those two, but only voting for offices in which they are informed about the candidates. If you don't know anything about the office, or the people running for it, just leave that space blank.

I voted for Cherie Berry, but I regretted it that night when I got home and saw her commercial. It isn't Cherie like 'Sherry or Cherry' its like sha-ree... It lost some of it's charm and I don't smile as much on elevators these days.

i didn't vote for her

because

1) i heard she's not really that cool

2) her name totally doesn't even rhyme and she gets pissed when people say it like it does

I did, mainly because I see her name in elevators all the time and I have never been in an elevator accident.

Voted for McCrory too.

And I voted for the Repulican dude for Commissioner of Agriculture. I figured that most rednecks are republians, and most farmers are rednecks....so in turn, a redneck would make a good Commissioner of Agriculture.

Cherie Killian Berry is the current North Carolina Commissioner of Labor, a member of the North Carolina Council of State and head of the North Carolina Department of Labor.

Berry was born in Newton, North Carolina and owned a spark plug manufacturing business in Catawba County, North Carolina. A businesswoman, Berry served in the North Carolina House of Representatives from 1993 to 2000, where she chaired the commerce committee. In November 2000, she was elected state labor commissioner, the first woman to hold the post. A Republican, (the only Republican on the Council of State between 2001 and 2005), she bested Democrat Wayne Goodwin to win a second term in the 2004 statewide elections. Berry faces Mary Fant Donnan in the 2008 elections.

Berry was criticized in a newspaper report on poultry plant oversight. Berry's fundraising has also been called into question by the Charlotte Observer.

Ok that's a silly statement. You do know that you need the local officials to carry out the policies of the president/governor? They are the ones that will actually make the "change" happen.

My opinion is silly? Interesting. Would you rather for me to vote for someone that I have not seen spoke a word and really don't know what they do, or should I leave that to more informed people like you?

But really, I voted for her because my buddy works in construction and mentioned to me something about how if she didn't get elections they would start having a lot more problems with OSHA. I didn't really understand it, but I knew nothing of either candidate so that's what I had to go on.

Yes I think it's very silly. It's not that hard to learn about the people that will actually affect your life day-to-day.

All that means is that if she's not reelected plant and construction safety will actually improve. Employee Safety is her one downfall. The above post about poultry plant oversight is right. She overlooks employee on-site injuries and filings that would require plant and site inspections by OSHA. She usually ends up giving those plants reduced fines and its swept under the rug. Come election time those plants in question become the main source of her campaign funding.

She's cool and funny to laugh at in an elevator, but as far as she goes for worker safety she ain't got it.

and any company that has a problem with OSHA is poorly operated to begin with.

My roommate, however, did not vote for her because she did not know better and never uses the elevator. I am organizing a rally to have my roommate ridden out of the state on a rail for her treachery. Who's with me!?!?!

If we followed strict OSHA rules at my job it would result in more people getting hurt. Some of the safety equipment they require is cumbersome and makes it harder to do the job safely.

I voted for the other guy just because of the whole smug "sharee" name thing.

that actually sound more like hes bitching because theyll have to continue to follow OSHA standards, instead of goin all willy-nilly and killign mexicans everyday

man that would suck, to have to follow guidelines and all to standardize safe workplace processes

I figure I will never meet the woman so calling her Sherry Berry isn't going to garner her wrath. Plus, she's the elevator lady so it isn't like I am bestowing her with phenomenal cosmic power (although an elevator could be seen as an itty-bitty living space ).
