To be fair, the microsoft commercials are shitty, too.

But yeah, the "mac vs pc" apple commercials have run their course... they should move on to something else.

It's not that they're shitty. It's that they straight up lie about their product.

Yeah, I meant the Mac commercials.

The iPod commercials are actually really catchy.

^ Like trying to claim Microsoft spends more on advertising among other things.

Advertising is not a product.

Also, how do you know what each company's ad budget is?

I will bet you everything I do or will one day own in my entire life that Apple spends at least twice as much on advertising as Microsoft.

They also claim that Microsoft spends no money on upgrading Vista and other shit too. I can't remember all the past ones they've lied about because the new ones lie so much.

you totally miss the point.

they're making fun of the ridiculous and absolutely retarded seinfeld commercials (that were almost immediately canned). they dumped a lot of money into that and other marketing strategies and have for all intents and purposes dumped vista and are rushing out the next product instead.

The only Apple product I've ever owned is an Ipod, which proceeded to die on me about a month after the warranty expired. Needless to say, I've never bought anything Apple since.

I've got a lampneck iMac that was on for my entire college career and only crashed once, three years in.

Needless to say, I own a gaggle of Apple products.

^^^ You mean a company that STILL spends more money on advertising despite the Seinfeld gaffe is trying to talk about an opposing company rather than the product they're trying to sell? This is the only marketing strategy they've had for the most part for the past 10 years because Apple sucks.

And don't try to bullshit me on Microsoft trying to rush out the next product because Apple is the absolute worst about that. Not only do they rush development on every single OS they produce, but their products are unable to be upgraded.

^ Why am I not surprised?

I now own three Apple products (ipod, macbook pro, iphone) and I have to say that I have never once, ever in the hundreds if not thousands of hours of use, had a single problem with any of them.

*knock on wood*

This isn't to claim a analogous piece of technology (Dell, Zune, Blackberry) couldn't run flawlessly for the same period. I'm simply claiming that my personal experience with Apple products has left me with no complaints on reliability and performance.

Look, I won't defend the commercials against being retarded because they were (and because i'm not some corporately branded tool). But as far as I know, Microsoft has never stopped calling Vista 'Windows Vista.' As far as I know they're talking about how the next version of Windows will be 'Windows 7.' But I'm just tired in general of their lies.

wait, are you calling me a corporately branded tool because I buy products from a manufacturer that have reliably worked for me?

Does this mean only non-tools purposely buy products that have chances of sucking?

This just seems silly.

This thread is full of dumb.

Seriously, everyone comes out of the woodworks to hate/dickride a product and argue with each other over which is better.

This is the more pathetic equivalent of a childhood "my Dad can beat up your Dad" argument. Just give it a fucking rest.

(I will note that none of my Apple products have ever given me a single problem, save the trackball on my mighty mouse getting dusty every now and again and requiring a cleaning. This doesn't mean Microsoft is a worthless company, nor does it make me a "corporate branded tool.")

I didn't call you anything. But the percentage of users who are fervently and unwaveringly devoted to one company is certainly higher for one company than the other. I see people with Apple bumper stickers. I've never once in my life seen a car with a Microsoft bumper sticker.

Most of the people defending Microsoft aren't defending Microsoft so much as they're attacking Apple. I can say, without any qualms that I'm pretty indifferent towards Microsoft. They've done plenty of shit to piss me off but not nearly as much as having to see a Mac or iPod commercial 8 times a day.

Yeah... but when they come on 23 times when I'm watching a football game, they're kind of hard to avoid...

Honestly, I think my point can be proven simply by the response that this thread has created. In the short span of its lifetime, it's attracted responses from no less than 3 Apple users while no one has come to the aid of Microsoft.

Ever notice that the "Big guy" never uses the small guy's name in their ads?

Coke has commericals about Coke, Pepsi has commercials about being better than Coke

Bud Light has commericals about Bud Light, Miller Lite has commercials about being better than Bud Light

Microsoft has commericals about Microsoft (and some about nothing), Apple has commercials about being better than Microsoft

Apple's are great, just FYI.

I never understood why people spent the TEXA$ for them untill I got a used one. I like them because they never break, freeze, or shut down: They just work.

I like Apple, but I've had my share of problems.

I've have my MacBook for a year with no issues (k.o.w.). I am, however, on my fourth iPod. I had the original iPod Mini, which lasted about a year and a half before dying and then upgraded to the 30 gig iPod which just went on the fritz after 2 years of service. I've never had a problem with my iPod Shuffle (but I've only used it a handful of times), but I just got an iPod Touch two weeks ago and I'm already having problems with the WiFi and applications crashing.

Even with all that I'll keep coming back. They are great products, but like all things, bound to die in time.

I'm not sure where all this stuff about vista being a failure is coming from, i have it on my laptop and PC and other than a few driver problems at the start that have been resolved it works fine. And i use my computer for everything, media, games, programming, vista hasn't been a problem.

i still have:

and it works fine. though i don't use it anymore. never had any problems with it and clearly i have had it awhile and used it for years.

i currently use:

never had any problems

i also a macbook. the only problem i had with that was the superdrive stopped working but it was fixed for free. oh and i dropped it off of my car and dented the corner but that was also fixed for free (somehow) and i have an insurance policy for other mishaps that aren't covered by my extended warranty.

so i'm pretty happy. though i only use my computer for basic things. i'm not exactly a video gamer or anything.

I'm so sick of people saying they have soooo many problems with microsoft. Most problems people have are not microsoft's fault - they're either hardware or driver problems.

Why is apple's software so much more "reliable"? Because they make one OS for one type of computer. Microsoft makes an OS that works on thousands (if not millions) of different hardware configurations. Most problems people have are applying their certain hardware configuration to the OS.

I've never had a single problem with microsoft's software and i've been on computers since the very early 90's. Every problem i've had has been hardware fault.

Regardless of apple vs microsoft, the Apple commercials really are incredibly annoying and stupid.

They used to be slightly clever, but now they are just childish and not even remotely clever.

"look at us, we have a boxing announcer guy, he's going to declare mac the winner, yipee!"

the commercials are pretentious as fuck, full of weak arguments, unnecessarily slanderous, and have made me despise Justin Long.

Only time people should bitch about commercials are when they show the same ones over and over again during a program. I've never found that with apple.

Oh...and I'm an apple convert. After being a hater for so long, only buying ipods...I finally broke down and got a macbook. And I love it.
