^^ i wasn't implying anything...but spending your hard-saved nickels for BEER instead of necessities (if you're really poor) is pretty pathetic

i used to eat bologna sandwiches made with the $1/pound stuff and bread from one of those day-old stores

but that's because i was (am) a cheap bastard

^^ why would you donate plasma when you could get paid for it by one of those sketchy outfits on hillsborough st?

also, i only had the 8-meal-a-week plan, and would eat one ginormous meal per day at fountain...and fill up my bookbag with fruit and stuff to get me by...lost 15lbs my freshman year, too

I once got the manager of Gumby's Pizza to sell me a large for $3.00.

Then I went to the ATM to take out $5, but I only had $4 and some change in my bank account. Since the bank was closed and my wallet was empty I had no way to pay for the $3 pizza I was getting.

Thats when I saw a friend riding up Hillsborough St. on his bike. I asked him if he wanted to split a pizza with me and got him to pay 1/2 of the full price. He unknowingly covered the whole pizza.

Me too, but only because they're tasty and filling. It's amazing how much food you can get for $1 out of one of those bags of mixed beans.

the height of my college poverty...

when i lived on brent road, i stopped paying rent and camped out in my house until the sheriff's deputies came to kick me out. i actually got quite a bit of free rent out of that. a few months.

well... it was free at the time, i paid it like 4 years later

I had scholarships to pay for the first few years, but I still didn't have a job, and so was broke.

After I moved off campus, anything could become a meal as long as there was enough of it. A can of green beans for example.

yeah, it was like 2002 or 2003. it didnt start out that way really. i made a thread on here kinda fucking around, about how i could collect change from tons of people and make money.

told everyone to bring pennies by my house. it ended up taking off... i made close to 80 bucks. which isn't a ton, but its pretty good from a wolfweb thread.

LOLZZz

I lived in a room with no insulation and no heat in a house that doors wouldn't lock next to the projects with 5 other people.

the rent for the whole house was a little more than what Im paying now for a bedroom in brooklyn.

I might have been better off in college than now. I lived with my parents rent-free and eating their food, but I was a full-time student and made very little money. The money I made at summer jobs went toward my tuition. Nowadays I live on my own and work full-time, but a good 90% of my income goes to living expenses.

I have almost the same standard of living I always had, living in a house (I've never lived in an apartment), having a car, although I eat cheaper now than in my college days. Most mornings my breakfast consists of a dime's worth of oatmeal or 30 cents worth of eggs and a glass of milk. Lunch is leftovers, canned ravioli, or a peanut butter sandwich. Dinner is often fast food or pizza, or something simple and cheap made at home.

My freshman year was awesome because scholarships paid for most of it. I changed majors, so I lost them, which made sophomore year kinda hard, but I still had fun.

I lived in Turlington and used to take out the trash and recycling for the wimmenz on the third floor and they would in turn feed me any of the leftovers they had. Sometimes, they would bring me some burgers from Fountain. It was badass.
