dorks tend to like metal, it's pretty simple really.and I don't consider myself to be even cool enough to be a dork. I am sub-dork.
11/12/2008 7:24:41 PM
in my experience mechanical engineers either listen to metal or classic rock.my team was split equally between the two.
11/12/2008 7:24:52 PM
Wait, is this metal music of just metal (like iron, copper, and zinc)? in my experience mechanical engineers tend to like both.
11/12/2008 7:26:06 PM
hahahaha, y'all are talking about musicin that case, i hate metal.country and classic rock
11/12/2008 7:26:12 PM

yeah, i was being serious when i said wood is for pussieswhen i hear the term "metal" i never think music
11/12/2008 7:27:41 PM
haha, probably because you don't listen to it.
11/12/2008 7:28:18 PM
I thought this was about the material metal, too...If it is, I have more fun on the mill and lathe in the shop than sitting across the hallway from the company execs staring at a computerIf not,I, too, enjoy listening to Squizz, Octane, Lithium, qriowegj ttkn3o, qwownt,mt6 ,etc
11/12/2008 7:28:50 PM
i listen to metal and classic rock..
11/12/2008 7:36:14 PM
while not a huge fan of the classic rock, i don't mind it one bit.
11/12/2008 7:37:27 PM
mechanical engineers were always the little gothic trench coat wearing bitches in college
11/12/2008 7:39:24 PM
right now i'm metal. hardcore. punk. classic rock.... anything else...
11/12/2008 7:39:48 PM
punk sought to destroy classic rock

i work with a bunch of old chem engs that used to be hippies in the 60s/70s that still trade dead tapes amongst themselves.it's kinda weird.some of the highest of the high in IT positions, the shot callers, sitting at meetings with grateful dead coffee cupsat a massive chemical companyit's just bizarre

I think I like ME majors the best. They seem to have the least amount of work (only 60 hours per week), but they still know how to party.
11/12/2008 10:17:06 PM
^industrial engineering majors have less work from what i've seen[Edited on November 12, 2008 at 10:18 PM. Reason : MEs have such a wide range of classes, that's what i like about it.]
11/12/2008 10:17:50 PM
i mean, hell, i'm learning all this fluids and thermo and stuff kinda like what a CHE might learn, but then i'm learning all this strength of materials like an MSE might learn, then i'm learning a lot of mechanical stuff like vibrations, etc.[Edited on November 12, 2008 at 10:20 PM. Reason : i love my major lol][Edited on November 12, 2008 at 10:20 PM. Reason : lol double post....i just let my thought process flow on tww]

I had a suitemate who was an ME and in ROTC. He wasn't a slacker per se, but the world's biggest procrastinator. He kept his GPA above 2.5 to stay in ROTC, but that was about it. One time, he got a called stating he scored the highest on a test that most of the class failed. He fucking flipped out. Then we saw State beat the crap out of William and Mary.Aerospace Engineers seem to have the most positive outlooks on life from what I've seen. These guys are in school for like six years to get a four year degree, but they're set for life afterwards.
11/12/2008 10:24:22 PM
^the work aeros do is insane. NEs have everyone beat though. i don't know how they handle it.most of them handle it with adderall.
11/12/2008 10:29:50 PM
^ all the AE's i have met are (more) socially awkward and eccentric than most engineering majors and IE's do have an easier major but the jobs they get seem like they would be mostly paper pushing jobs and/or managing people.. but that is just the impression i get. /generalizations[Edited on November 12, 2008 at 10:32 PM. Reason : but ME's do have a tendency toward metal/rock..]
11/12/2008 10:30:55 PM
eccentric is just a nice way of calling folks weird
11/12/2008 10:32:02 PM
yea
11/12/2008 10:33:42 PM
i picked ME because my dad was/is a mechanic and of course i wanted to do what he did. i wanted to work on shit like he taught me all day. then i realized i was good at school and that turning wrenches didn't pay so great and was generally tough work. so i started thinking about majors and as soon as i heard one with "mechanic" in the title i was like "hell yeah, awesome" i guess i got lucky that i actually do enjoy what i'm learning
11/12/2008 10:38:22 PM
i would say next to AE and CHEM-E we had the most work... just that we still like to party so only the fraction that had to be done got done...
11/13/2008 8:12:02 AM
ME's get the best attention at parties
11/13/2008 8:14:04 AM
