The tire guys at that indoor flea market on Capital Blvd. I got an almost brand new Firestone that matches the other three tires on my truck for $35 installed. No patches and no leaks on this one. The rest of their inventory was actually cheaper.

There is also Rockside Tires on S. Saunders St. They hooked me up when I was in college and broke as hell, so I always recommend checking with them.

if you want the best price and good service. go to discount tires. pay the extra 15 dollar bux or so and get the certifications for your tires. meaning if you go off road and you get a log though youre tire, they give you a new one for free pretty much. they shop other comp. to make sure they give you the best price. and thats a common size so they have it in stock and can get you out the door before you eat your lunch

Duty Tire on Tryon. Best prices in raleigh.
I checked everywhere last time I needed tires and they were the cheapest by FAR. I saved over $100 a tire when compared to Just Tires, $70 a tire when going to Tire Kingdom companies, and same price as TTR.

Tire prices, and savings are relative to the size and type of tire. I called Duty Tire on Tryon a month or so ago about some tires and they were $85 per tire than BJ's Tire department and claimed they wouldnt price match because "Sam's, Costco, and BJ's are cheaper because they only sell blemished and reject tires" which is 100% bullshit.

Something more important to consider is who will be installing your tires and their customer service. I worked in the tire business a few years ago and even within my store there was a huge difference of the quality of installation and the level of customer service I provided compared to everyone else in the place. I knew what I was doing, and why certian things are done certian ways, and I could effectively communicate with customers whereas noone else could. I never had a tire I installed come back with a problem due to installation, not even on so much as a balance. The amount of people coming back due to incompetent work being done around me was appaling. If you have ever had a blowout, and the flunkie working at the discount place tells you that you have to replace all 4 tires, and cant tell you why, then LEAVE no matter how cheap the tires are. Or say your tires are worn down and the people at the tire store cant tell you why, or how, but will sell you a $20 warranty so "a new one for free pretty much" when it happens again- WALK AWAY. The amount of bullshit in the tire business is horrible, often the used tire places are more honest than the new tire stores because they wont bullshit you or mislead you when you do business with them.

I recently had a very pleasant experience at a Just Tires location in Garner, and although it was alignment related, if I HAD to get a tire mounted and balanced anywhere today that is where I would go first. I only went there based on reccomendations of others and am happy to reccomend them to anyone else, but I can only speak for the service I got there from the specific individual I dealt with.

Likewise I have had negative experiences at tire places, Discount Tires procedure on my lugnuts was not correct and my wheels were loose within a few thousand miles. Sears wouldnt install tires I special ordered through them because they were a slightly different size. Merchant's charged me for a 4 wheel alignment that they didnt do- I watched them while the tech just blew through the process instead of adjusting the car to spec. I have first hand had to go back and align vehicles that came from the dealer where their alignment procedure was to actually remove the steering wheel and reinstall it so the wheel pointed straight ahead when the car traveled straight. I once was charged at a tire shop for an road hazard plan on 4 tires- when I only had 2 tires installed. Tire King installed directional tires backwards. I can continue if I havent made my point.

Perhaps I should buy some equipment and begin providing the service to people that they expected all along from every tire place they have ever been to.

Oh, the headaches I've had at tireplaces...

What kills me is when my mom has gone to tire places on her own the last couple times a few years ago...they completely ripped her off with all of that bs ^ above. I've taken her car every time from now on. Basically it's like anything else in life, you get what you bargain/pay for.

Freddie I know you're not going to buy some decent tires for that poor Jeep, get thornbirds you poser.

Oh and ^, start one. I'll ship you tires from tirerack twice a year.

Discount Tire at Harrison/Maynard receives a Tiberius seal of approval

Murray's off South Saunders near the Harley dealership also receives a Tiberius seal of approval

My car is low and my wheels are of extremely unusual dimensions (215R13), neither of these shops had a problem with that where most other shops I've been to have. Their equipment was nice, self-adhesive weights in stock, work was fast and professional, wheels were not damaged, and niggas even torqued the lugs. Discount Tire was prepared to order the non-stocked tires I requested from Tirerack at cost+shipping AND advised me as to who was the local distributor of that brand tire that might have them stocked.

But you still have to pay tax on top of tr.com+shipping. i guess when you're buying go kart tires tax doesn't really matter.

what does it cost for tire mounting/balancing/valvestems/disposal at a decent shop around here? I'm considering ordering a new set of tires off tirerack.com since they have a special but trying to determine total cost

tirerack is selling 235/75R15 XL Michelin LTX M/S for $78.00/ea right now, which is a lot better than I've seen elsewhere. shipping is ~55 for the set.

got a quote from duty-tryon today for some low buck goodyear wrangler radials for 88/ea and ~432 out the door. thats 11 or so per tire mounting/balance/stems/disposal plus taxes.

exact same deal at walmart 275(55/tire) otd and yes exact same setup. i can pay for a shit ton of balancing for $150 and rotate them myself.

Rotating your own tires does NOT invalidate the treadlife warranty on any tire I have ever seen. In fact, I cant even believe anyone would believe such bullshit. The reason they give you the little booklet when you buy tires is so that you can keep track of your rotations- wether they are done at Tire Store A or Tire Store B, or Bobo's Car Circus Quick Lube, or in your driveway. Will, feel free to show us where any tire company has what you are claiming written in the fine print.

Perhaps you meant that without proof of rotations done at the correct intervals, no tire manufacturer is going to honor their treadlife warranty. But it is common sense that in this type of situation, you have to hold up your end of the deal for them to hold up theirs.
