This'll be my first pet ever that I've lost. He's 15 years old, and has lost his sight, hearing, and just recently his mobility - he's in a lot of pain. Here's a farewell thread for Ferdinand! You were an awesome mutt, we'll miss ya.[Edited on November 17, 2008 at 8:24 PM. Reason : TWW is not a blog]

i've put down three golden retrievers. you get used to it. go play with puppies after you leave the vet. or get drunk. whatever makes you feel better.

11/17/2008 8:37:10 PM
Sorry man. At least you had him for 15 years that's really a long time. I don't even want to think about having to do it when the time comes for me to put mine down.[Edited on November 17, 2008 at 8:38 PM. Reason : space key]

11/17/2008 9:27:10 PM
I'm so sorry, but it is the right thing to do. We put one of our cats down recently, so I understand.

lolWe're just taking him to the vet, my parents are paying for it because he's their dog so I guess they would rather have it done there than hiring out some TWW psycho. ]
11/17/2008 9:32:04 PM
My heart goes out to you. i couldn't imagine spending the night with him knowing it's the last night. I would lose it.

awww so sad
11/17/2008 9:35:31 PM
I took some time tonight to say goodbye, and have been having crying spells tonight... it's been really really rough, and thanks for all of your condolences. He just kinda squirmed on the kitchen floor, unable to stand up all the way like he used to whenever I'd kneel down to him. I remember when we first got him from the pound as a pup how excited we were as kids, and our dad took that moment to teach us a lesson about aging - he said the dog would some day be so old that he'd just manage to thump his tail a few times when we came home from college (to us this seemed a million years away - we were in elementary school at the time). The very thought actually hurt.

Poor little guy. Bye Ferdinand! Say hi to charlie and itchy when you get up there.

Heheh, I'll tie a note to Ferdi's collar. He's had a fantastic life; he's a brilliant dog so he was easily trained, socialized and we treated him like a king (of course he and I would fight a lot, he loved a good wrestle).
11/17/2008 9:58:45 PM
this thread is just begging for a parody thread
11/17/2008 9:59:11 PM
