what about parking tickets you received on a campus?I got one on Duke campus, tried to appeal it, but I don't think it worked I never heard anything back from them on it though so maybe they dropped it

eventually (after enough tickets) you'll get a boot on your car

^^^^ Yeah, have fun with that. I had a ticket that I apparently got on one of the side streets off campus and two years later they were like, "omg fucking bitch pay this fucking ticket or we'll send it to a fucking collection agency." I asked for the documentation and they had it all in triplicate. So I ended up having to pay the ticket (though they were nice and waived the late fees since I convinced them that I had no idea this ticket even existed, which I didn't)[/blog][Edited on November 17, 2008 at 11:02 PM. When I was moving to Raleigh, I took a trip up with my mom's car during the summer to move stuff. Apparently I got a ticket in that time, but it blew away or someone took it or something else happened, because I never knew about it until about a year later, when my mom (in Georgia) got a letter saying they were going to take her car until she paid it.

What kind of documentation?Anything that'd hold up in the face of the FDCPA? No. Because you never agreed to the debt, never signed anything, and probably the best they have is the ticket, and maybe pictures of your car. Nothing that consititutes anything that would hold up under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. It's called a scare tactic, dear. What 'documentation' did they give you? Copies of the parking ticket? That's not validation of a debt What can be done is to have ask for a judgment to be entered against you, but that's not a direct avenue to collections and a negative mark on your credit score.[Edited on November 17, 2008 at 11:09 PM. So you're trying to claim that people don't have to pay fines they don't agree to?What about if someone loses a lawsuit? If you never agree that you owe money, do you not have to pay it?
