Sometimes when I have extra space on a worksheet, I'll stick a Penny Arcade comic at the bottom and tell the students if they fill in the speech bubbles and write a story I'll give them extra credit. At my former school when I did this, the students would never turn them in because they could care less about extra credit.

At my new school though, the kids have gotten into it. This is the blank I gave them last week:

lol, I wish you guys could see the original on this one. In the first panel the student drew a huge castle behind the two and a limo. Then then labeled them Jonathan (poor) and Smith (wealthy).
