again... IN 2009 http://www.prefixmag.com/news/coldplay-break-up-rumors-surface-on-the-internet/23179/
Coldplay is ready to call it quits. I guess they want to get out while they're still on top. Chris Martin recently said that the band won't keep going when they get old. And yes, he considers 33 to be old.
"I'm 31 now and I don't think that bands should keep going past 33. So, we're trying to pack in as much as possible. Up until the end of next year, we'll just go for it in every sense.
"I don't believe in time off. We've still got most of our hair, we can still fit into our musical trousers and we've got to make the most of that."] 11/20/2008 3:08:45 PM |

god knows why he didn't just cop out and say that he wants to spend time with his family? i mean at least that would be honorable. but whatever gets them off the tv and radio is fine by me. 11/20/2008 4:04:14 PM |

despite what you might think of Coldplay, I wish more bands would follow suit and just fucking quit when the creative juices run absolutely dry.

oh well, I'm not ashamed of liking Coldplay even with their over-saturation on TV lately and those queer ass uniforms they wear all the time now.
They'll never put out an album better to Parachutes to me but it would still suck if they quit. I can see how they wouldn't be for everybody, but I don't see how they've become the symbol of bad music to everybody lately when there are soooo many bands worse than they are. I guess they're just the new U2, they put out critically acclaimed records and sell out stadiums on world tours, but for some reason, they're not considered a "cool" band. 11/23/2008 5:56:52 PM |

I have to disagree with the tool quote, if anything, I think Tool has gotten a hell of a lot better since the opiate days. 11/24/2008 9:04:58 PM |

I enjoy all of the tool albums. As far as their last 3 albums which were all kind of tackling a similar soundscape, Ænima > Lateralus > 10,000 days imo 11/25/2008 7:37:05 AM |

tsk tsk. . you kids and your blanket labels. Tool used to be one of my favorite bands. Easily top 5. I just don't think they're as good anymore. It's what we in Actual Land call opinion. 11/25/2008 9:03:44 AM |

Ænima is an unfair benchmark. The bar was set very high with that one.
That being said, Tool still is producing great music.
Vicarious and especially Jambi have shown us that. 11/25/2008 9:38:44 AM |

i love how a coldplay topic has turned into a discussion on tool...ha.
in light of that, i love every tool record. strangely i tend to prefer lateralus.

Lateralus is my personal fave as well. Followed VERY closely by Aenima. and 10,000 days has a lot of really good tracks, but also quite a few I usually skip.
I was at Alex Grey's museum in NYC a couple of weekends ago, and he has copy of Lateralus on vinyl there signed by the bandmembers. They all wrote a small message, and Maynard's just said "moooo...." Just thought that was funny. 11/25/2008 11:51:15 AM |
