If you're looking for great food there are a plethora of fantastic microbreweries downtown - 99% of which are 3-4 star with great beer to go along. I'm not sure if it's still there but I think the place is called 'Gamewinners' or similar downtown. It's not your normal arcade. For instance when you play the Indy race game you do it from a full sized mock-up, complete with roll & tilt similar to the motion movies you see around. Well worth the trip, expect to drop $50 with a meal for around 2 hours of entertainment.

If you're the wildlife junkie you can head north to Mt.Rainier National Park. It's 10/10 beautiful. Bring your camera fo' sure. Driving all the way to the top will land you at this little log-cabin looking hotel. Also has A+ food and beverage with guaranteed snow and incredible vistas to boot.

Coming down be sure to hit up the snowqualamie river (spelling...) Swimming in it is a mark of a champion. It's melted glacier water and frequently drops down to ~29'F, not freezing because it's moving too fast. The technique is to walk 30 yards or so up stream and swim perpendicular. Having a buddy to catch you is a plus too. Don't be ignorant like my dad and attempt with glasses (he was wearing a strap to hold them. It was no match for the river.) If nothing else get some shots here too - the waterfalls are incredible...

Next you can hit the tourist spots - restaurant in the top of the needle, although some of the best dining is in the park around it's base. If nothing else ride it up for shots of the bay from there. They're awesome.

A great day trip is up into Victoria BC - the city on the harbor. This is where I want to live. It's amazing. Be sure to catch a harbor flight for the tour. You'll see more bald eagles than you can imagine. Eagles around Victoria are like buzzards here - they congregate in big trees and rocks and will literally turn the sky black when startled.

I'm sad I'm not going with you

coffee

Get some seafood while you're there, it's great. The sushi is amazing if you go to the right places. Get some geoduck and wild salmon sushi if you can. There's also some great pho restaurants all over the city. Teriyaki is big in Seattle but I find it too sweet

The zoo is cool, but not as good as our zoo obviously.

Birthplace of The Dude

Not the greatest time of year to go though but it should still be fun.

i don't know if it's been said already, but a friend told me there were a few good micro-breweries in seattle. i can't confirm or deny, and i'm too lazy to google it for you.

^^The Ram is a chain

You can add the Maritime Brewery and Alaskan Ale brewery to that list, they are two of my favorites.

There are 14-20 local breweries in the Seattle area (been a rough go the last couple of years so a couple may have closed down or moved).

Basically if you love beer, this place is a mecca for it.
