While I am guessing this thread might not appeal to many people on this site, I know there are a few other Pats fans on here than me, or people who are just interested in this topic.

Cassel has thrown for 400+ yards in two straight games, and the Pats offense has netted (I believe) about 80 points against the Jets and the Dolphins. He has led the team to a 7-4 record since Brady went down. Many analysts are touting him as the best potential free agent in the upcoming year.

I personally think he is not what he is cracked up to be, and if a team were to sign him to a big money contract, it would be a huge mistake. Watching him play the first half of the season made me want to cry. He has one of the best corps of wide receivers in the game (I think they ARE the best) and a decent running game, especially before Maroney went down. I think, like so many of the players on the Patriots, he is an absolute product of a good system. I love the analogy of how it looked like someone had stuck a Ford Pinto engine in a Porche when they were talking about Cassel's beginning of the year performance. I also believe that Cassel would probably not lead ANY team to better than an 8-8 record other than the Pats.

Discuss.

he probably would not be a all-star caliber quarterback for most other teams, however he fits extremely well into the system that the patriots have worked hard to create. look at tom brady, before entering the system he was a no one. i think that the past few games have really done a lot to prove that the right qb in the right system trumps blue chip prospects in the wrong system.

Are you serious? No way in hell they have the best receivers.
Arizona, Dallas, Indy to name a few all have better WRs.

^Carolina with smith and Moose.

Sorry Cassel is an extremely good QB. He'll only get better over time.

The only running back they've had this year that was really worth a damn was Sammy Morris. Maroney is nothing special. On top of that, yes -- Cassel sucked at first, he also hadn't started a football game in 7 years, so there's going to be some considerable rust.

Well, considering the only other two "big name" free agent quarterbacks this upcoming year are JP Losman and Rex Grossman -- yeah. I think he's more than likely the best potential free agent at QB.

Def. not Washington

Carolina probably not either. Moose is alright, but after that who is there, Rosario?

Give the Chargers another year I think they will be up there.

On topic, I think Cassel could be quite good on a team that needs a QB. He reminds me of Matt Shaub. Hopefully he isn't as fragile as Shaub is.

Starting to think the Patriots have a pretty good Offensive Coordinator and that Tom Brady isn't exactly the second coming of Jesus like everyone thought he was.

Cardinals have the best Wrs in the NFL and it's not even close...

I think Cassel could end up in Minnesota and propelling them to the next level.

You guys are crazy....Warner makes those receivers that much better. Look at their numbers without Warner.

Moss, Welker, Gaffney is about the same as Boldin, Fitz, and Breaston.

The fact that Cassel, an unknown can step in and do this shows how good their system is.

I think I'm going to start Pennington over him today. Cassel against Pit's superb D is making me nervous

I think he'll be the top free agent QB available. Considering this is the first time he's started (or even played significant time) since high school I think he's done well. Sure he's on a team with lots of talent, but I think he's done well. He should continue to improve and I think he'll be okay.

I'd think Seattle, Carolina, maybe Tampa Bay or Miami would be interested.

The cardinals EASILY have the best WR in the league

and its not just Warner that makes them look good, he cant make them get wide open.

its Cardinals, NE (last year especially) Dallas and then its hard to call

the chargers arent even close to having a top 5 WRs

What is the criteria for best WR corp? Top 2, 3, 4?

Dallas with Owens, Williams, Austin and Creighton have a better top 4 than
Arizona with Fitzgerald, Boldin, Breaston and Urban.

Hell, go 5 deep. Stanback for Dallas returns kicks and sees the field a little bit. Way more so than Morey for AZ.

If the criteria is top 2 then Arizona has the best imo.

Ok you claim to be a Cowboys fan, I really am a Cowboys fan. This is why we get a bad rap. Immature?

If you seriously follow your team, I don't see how you could misspell a player's name that badly.....

^^Not sure where you pulled that from.....

Not starting an arguement but knowing players on your own teams names should be standard.

And aren't you the same guy who said fuck Simon Harris and we should kick him off the team or something stupid like that?
