I'm being offered a brand new X200 (C2D 2.4Ghz, 2G RAM, 160G 7200rpm HD) for $900.... Should I take it?

It's being sold for more on Lenovo's website (especially with that spec). I'm hesitant because the screen is too small (only 12.1"), and without trackpad. Also, I don't need to be THAT uber mobile. The light weight is very nice though.

How easy is it to ebay the thing?

LOL. I'll pay $400 for your HP. The difference b/w what you think it's worth and $400 is because it's an HP. (Heh... I loathe HP)

It will still outperform ^^ that. Also, not having the pad will ween you off the touchpad ways and onto the superior trackpoint.

I'd say leap on that.

while my goal wasn't to get into a laptop pissing contest, i'm curious as to how my faster computer will be outperformed by a slower one...i'll wager that mine benchmarks higher (i could be wrong, but i'm not sure why you're saying faster hardware will perform worse than slower hardware, if the software's the same)...mine also has an 8600m video card (with HDMI) which, while not a powerhouse, is pretty darn good for a laptop

absolutely...trackpads are evil, unless it's the new glass ones on the mbp's
